Macau/Hong Kong - Day 1 ( Part 1 )

The flight was smooth but with limited leg room so I came prepared with my air pillow and ipod. We reached Macau at about 9:45 am and went through custom. Got some maps and swiftly got into a cab. Then registered with the hotel and deposited our luggage as check in time is 3 pm.

We wanted to head for Senando Square for lunch but somehow abit "Pa Qiao", missed it on the map. But I remember it was near St Paul's Ruins, so we decided to head there first.

The weather was very cooling on friday, about 18 to 22 degrees, so we decided to take a walk to St Paul.

It was about 3 km away from the map but took us a while to find it as to go in a certain direction, we need to cross few streets.

Tnoid, 血盆 and SaMe behind some really old accomodations.

When we got there, it was quite crowded.

Commonly known as 大三巴. Standing now was the front façade of St Paul Cathedral after a fire in 1853 destroyed it.

Coins were seen on an area leading up the stairs and was supposed to bring luck if you throw a coin onto it.

I standing in the middle of the facade. Quite hard to take a small object with a big background.

We got our pictures then continued to find Senando Square.

Down the steps of St Paul’s are rows of shops selling cookies, pastries and street snacks, etc. I remember seeing a fountain and the ground of Senando Square has wavy patterns.

As we trekked down the “Holland V” like vicinity, we found it. After taking some pictures, we head to Wong Chi Kei for lunch. Noodles are its specialty but there are congee, rice and some “tse char” items on its menu.

I got the 招牌虾子捞面. Then we shared some deep fried dumplings and 酥炸鲮鱼球. The 招牌虾子捞面 is just plain noodles with some powdery stuff on it but then I must say it is really good.

Even the plain noodles, you can eat it alone, the powdery stuff most probably is the 虾子 just adds another level of savoury to it.

The small bowl of soup that came with it was also very 鲜甜, somehow.

The deep fried dumplings are quite similar to the ones at Crystal Jade, not only 脆 but also 酥. The 酥炸鲮鱼球 was something different, some spices or something gave it a extra “ohm” taste when you bite into it.

A good start to an expectation of good food coming along …
