Hot Fuzz

Managed to catch hot fuzz during my MCs. Quite a nice show though story abit absurd but it is typical of "Lock Stock Barrel" and "Snatch" style of movie.

An Absurd plot
Quick witted humour
Gory and blood spilled deaths

Angel, a ultra extra-ordinary police constable in almost everything was promoted to sergeant but was posted to remote countryside sandford village. The london police wanted to get rid of him as he is setting a too high standard.

Sandford village, looked peaceful and quiet from the outside where people lives happily ever after with no crimes for 20 years. How can this be ? As angel arrives on the first day, he started his strictly business no jokes principal, arresting underaged kids drinking, drunk drivers, etc.

Then the fun starts ....

People died one by one, in gore and "SAW" types of death. But each one the police deems as accidents. Initially, angel thought probably could be accident and not much clues to lead on. As more and more died, he got pissed off by the attitudes of the local sandford police.

He started his own detailed investigations. And found out the deaths could be linked and with a motive behind it. His partner, Danny, son of the police chief started to believe angel and worked with him closely.

But then it still lead to no where .... until

Angel start to realize it might be more than one killer ! And it is really more than one ! Actually a bunch of them, a group of local sickos who wanted to keep the village perfect and so to win the don't know what "village of the year" award, this group will killed whoever they deem as not "fitted" to be in sandford. And each with some quite preposturous reasons as well.

One got killed because his house was ugly.

Anyway, finally with the help of the local police ( minus the police chief ), they eliminated this group of people in "Resident Evil" style milo action pack killings !!! 7/10

摩天轮的传说

当摩天轮转到最高的时候
所许下的心愿一定会实现

Wisdom Experience

The cleaning experience did not give me any confidence with the doc. But when I went for my wisdom this morning, it was swift and accurate though I need to survive minutes of traumatic moments !

Never like dentist and could not remember when was my last extraction ...

Within seconds, he gave me injections for the LA after applying some lotion on the gum area. Then came the bad news ....

Doc "Your wisdom tooth is big and your jaw bone is quite big"
Doc "I ll take a x-ray of that area"

Then we went into another room, took the x-ray.

Doc "I have taken out thousands of wisdom tooth and never failed"
Me *Hmmm ... some good news*
Doc "Your jaw bone is big which is good for strong teeth but bad if taking tooth out"
Me *Just saved me from being a cliffhanger then push me down the cliff again*
Doc "I need to tell you upfront as the tooth may break during extraction so it might need surgery"
Me "So must extract then know ?"
Doc "Yes"

Swiftly, he say he is going to test whether the LA is enough or not. In about 2 mins, he twist and yank, it was out. Definitely not like going to spa but at least it was almost painless.

I took the tooth back :)

881

881 is about 七月歌台 which is filled with melodious hokkien songs. The movie soundtrack receives 供不应求 response. In general, it feels like watching a slapstick musical but with a very local Singapore taste. Though I have not been to any 七月歌台, if I am a regular then probably I might have a more developed feel to the movie.

木瓜 sisters met each other at a 歌台 and since clicked like real sisters. Their zeal towards singing well at 七月歌台 made them seek help from "歌台仙姑" which somehow is the twin sister of their "manager", 玲姨.

Their 联绵不断 string of numerous song names which turned into reasons of urging "歌台仙姑" to help them is quite funny. At some moment, I thought it should be stopping, but it kept continuing ... Hahahaha

So "歌台仙姑" agreed, gave them 仙毛 and so called 打通 their vocal 任督二脉 ....

Almost everything is in hokkien, making it very funny at some of the scenes where the dialogue was humourous. 玲姨's son, 关音 who is mute and somehow keep holding to his pet chicken all day long. And some sexual innuendos to it brought some more hahahaha ...

Numerous extravagant costumes are worn by the 木瓜 sisters. They are colourful and elaborate which I believes exudes what the 七月歌台 is about, a performance for the "兄弟" to enjoy. The costumes change is a joy to watch, is like each change gives a pleasant surprise.

The typical melodic hokkien songs which are belted out very frequently throughout the movie. Even expressing certain moods are through songs but most are very sad songs.

The story involves another duo group called the 榴莲 sisters which is vying with the 木瓜 sisters to be the most popular duo in the 歌台 scene. This competition adds some action to the whole plot and the final showdown between the 2 was quite entertaining with numerous costumes change and rendition of hokkien songs.

With all these, 小木瓜 who is stricken by cancer has been struggling to perform every show to her best. The last scene where she was embracing 大木瓜 and both singing. It was going in circles where each turn we see her hair dropping as a result of chemo.

She died eventually. And only at every 七月歌台 ... 大木瓜, 关音 and 玲姨 are so called "reunited" with her. 8/10.

Narcolepsy

It is a neurological condition most characterized by Excessive Daytime Sleepiness (EDS). A narcoleptic will most likely experience disturbed nocturnal sleep, confused with insomnia, and disorder of REM or rapid eye movement sleep.

Simply put, the brain does not pass through the normal stages of dozing and deep sleep but goes directly into (and out of) rapid eye movement (REM) sleep.

This has several consequences:

Nighttime sleep does not include much deep sleep, so the brain tries to "catch up" during the day, hence EDS
May visibly fall asleep at any moment (such motions as head bobbing are common)
People with narcolepsy fall quickly into what appears to be very deep sleep
They wake up suddenly and can be disoriented when they do (dizziness is a common occurrence)
They have very vivid dreams, which they often remember
People with narcolepsy may dream even when they only fall asleep for a few seconds

We seriously suspect that one of our friend is suffering from this ! At least some form of it ! Most people might call it like sleepy heads or "kun sin" or whatever. If it somehow start affecting your life one way or another, you might want to take a seriously look at it.

Problem is, he is too "floating" or bo chup to admit it. It is normal to him, his lifestyle revolves such nacroleptic behaviours.

His "去了" action is instant, anywhere and anytime. Missed bus stops, mrt stations, planned to do an activity but .... etc.

Maybe too late when it becomes work-related issues or life-endangering catalyst !

退后

BPL 18/19 Aug

Spurs vs Derby
A win very much expected after Spurs lost against Sunderland and Everton. If not, Martin Jol's head probably will roll but then now rumours that his head will probably roll also. Juande Ramos, Klinsmann, Capello and Mark Hughes are names being mention to replace him. This does not do good to Spurs who is trying for the CL spot this season amid a bad start. A better display from Spurs, more fluent in the passing and moving well in attack. The 4-0 win was not because Spurs was that good, It was just Derby is really crap.

Result at Old trafford could determine the future of Jol.

Man C vs Man Utd
I am 1 point in front of Man Utd !!! Yippie !!! A slight deflected shot by Geovanni was enough to get 3 points for Sven. A sweet though not that deserved victory over Ferguson. The goal was against the run of play with Man Utd searching a early then an equalizer then a desperate point then ... nothing. Nani miss a early 1-on-1, Tevez miss some 1/2 chances and a open goal, they miss someone like RVN badly.

Anyway, a strong feeling that Man U will win big against Spurs. Haiz .....

Liverpool vs Chelsea
Mourinho's men looked set to lose at Anfield again with Torres scoring his first goal. A good strike, draw away from Ben Haim with ease before slotting past Cech to the far post. Malouda and SWP looked lively early on but could break through the Pool defence. A disputable penalty given by the ref gave Chelsea the equalizer. Lampard scored as usual.

A draw looked good for other title chaser.

Blackburn vs Arsenal
Blackburn fielded a 12th player, "Lehmann".

Bourne Ultimatum

Bourne was given 5 stars by ST Life. The bourne trilogy based on Robert Ludlum's books brought in alot of money worldwide from ticket sales and DVDs. Can't remember when was the last time a movie was rated 5 stars. It was less than 2 hours and almost action packed from the beginning.

Bourne continued in search of his real identity. Buffled on what made him do all the killings he had done so far and thus has been on the trail of the sequence of events from the CIA wanting him dead to a UK reporter who found leads on a special CIA program called "BlackBriar".

Bourne's intelligence, fighting capabilities and quick thinking was way above any normal human. This made him looked like superman, just that he don't fly and do bleeds. Numerous chasing scenes, CIA remote command/capture scenes, high speed car chase, fighting, etc. 2 of his "same kind" was ordered to kill him in addition to the main task force but failed.

With Landy, Noah from CIA hot on his heels, he dodged, fought back and finally found out the truth about "BlackBriar" which is some secret program which CIA uses to assasinate people, something in which Landy wasn't aware as well.

In the end, landy helped bourne and he was back to the research facility where it all begin. And bourne gave Landy all the evidence on the "Black Briar" program which she faxed to some destination in few minutes because Noah came after her.

Considering what bourne gave her was several booklets of information ... Somhow either the fax feeding was ultra fast and there is a new fax transmitting technology. Anyway, insignificant to the overall movie.

Bourne 4 maybe in the pipeline considering the ending and Ludlum had release a new book on Bourne. 8/10.

Friday Desserts@House

There are only 2 desserts on the PS menu. A kind of rum vanilla bean ice cream concoction and the coconut creme caramel. Hmmmmm ... so we decided to pop over to house see if desserts are available.

And yes ... avail till 11 pm !

And somehow the so called PR gal still remember us from our first visit on their 2nd day of biz. Peanut butter cake, Choco Almond cake and Chai Choco fudge !!!

Not sure why it came in tins this time round. Our prev visits, they came in plates. My guess will be could be only pieces left so they are tucked away in tins or they changed its way of serving their cakes.

Anyway, the peanut butter was really good, should be very popular with pb lovers but the layer of white thingie covering the cake is abit overwhelming.

The 2 choco cakes we had before and were still as good ..... :)

Friday Dinner@Prime Society

With prior booking days earlier, you will get a seat. A warmth recept gal greeted us as we walked in and prepared to get ready our seats.

A high ceiling concept gives a very roomy feel and of course with the open kitchen, this give the smoke that is coming out more space to roam

The bar that stands right in the middle took away some space for seats

The cooking area which is right infront of us. Chef busy grilling and BBQ raw cuts

Utensils are in a envelope !!

Can't get a good pic of my "Best of the cut", Fillet Mignon. Lighting not enough on the table and with my crappy phone cam, it doesn't do any more good.

Basically, you choose your cut, mignon, ribeye, sirloin, etc. Choose your doneness and your sauce. I had the blue cheese butter but the blue cheese avocado is the best as it was blended in a cup for you. While the blue cheese butter is just pieces of butter with blue cheese taste.

The fries was crispy but not savoury enough, probably to let one taste the beef. The sauteed vege/mushroom pieces are okay with the weird shape looking tomato standing out which is very juicy.

The fillet cut done medium well was good. At $36 for 160g, the cut was very thick and goes quite well with the butter I smeared on but it wasn't as juicy as i expected. Aston serves good cuts at much much cheaper prices !

The prime caesers and calamari we had were not really worth it at $16 and $12 each, average taste. The full rack ribs which was marinated with honey mustard and thai chilli, nothing to shout about, and because at $38, quite ex. You can get quite good baby back ribs at e.Blackboard at $10.

Dental Visit@Lee & Lee

I believes 9 out of 10 do not like visiting a dentist. Probably the 10th is someone who is fetish with dentists. It is just someone you would want to avoid to see but then at least to upkeep one's teeth, a 6 mth or yearly visit is quite usual. The usual stuff for a normal visit .....

Check to see any decay or whatever
Clean and remove stains and stuff
Chemical wash for the gums if neccesary
Flouride treatment for protection

Above are what I got. But then somehow the dental assistant looked very untrained or not trained enough or slow to pickup or simply incompetent. Not that I am picky but If I am paying for something which will induce discomfort or pain to myself during the treatment, the minimum expectation will be smooth transistion of any processes during it !

At least 2 occasions, she forgot to add water for me. The first one I even need to request verbally, then the dentist pressed it for me. The next few times, she has to be reminded.

The cleaning was done in 1 go ! If i remember correctly, the ones I had previously are done in few rounds, like maybe the bottom right, top right, rinse, front, left, rinse, inner ... etc. Not sure if it was to minimize time to maximize profits.

I am coming back for wisdom tooth extraction somemore ! He say 5 mins done somemore !Finger crossed :)

Thursday TaBao@Kay Lee Roast Duck

This stall at some 鸟不生蛋 狗不拉屎 place at upper paya lebar road. It was mentioned in the ieatishoot blog so thought of trying it.

At $34 per duck, not cheap. Colour of the duck is black but not because it was burnt.

Got 1/2 a duck, 1/2 a chicken and char siew. All came up to $30.

Was it worth it ?!??!?!

The duck meat was tender enough but could really taste anything special with the skin though. The so called 盐鸡 looked like it was baked and with the thick sauce/condiments drenched on top of it was quite good. But dried up already when I got home.

The char siew was sliced too thick but taste was good. And the chilli sauce has a additional taste which make it quite good. The some kind of plum sauce was thick, goes well with the duck. The some kind of 卤汁 was normal to me.

Wednesday Dinner@Dunman FC

First time there, very small compare to other hawkers. Just directly opposite Joo Chiat Police Station. Wanted to see if got chance to see the famous rojak there.
You can't miss it when you walked up the stairs. First look ! No Q !

We walked around and seems like quite a number of stalls are closed, not sure why. The wan-ton noodles which we wanted to try were also closed. No choice then, settled for food from other stalls.
When we were figuring to sit where, someone walked away from the rojak stall mumbling

"Bo Q also must wait 1 hour". Wah sure or not, really got so many orders meh but not much people in the FC wor. Weird or just the rojak uncle wierd.
The char kway tiao, hokkien mee, oyster omelette and chicken wings we had. So so .... not worth coming back for :)

我的家就在这里

An amusing YES933 version of the NDP song sang by Kit Chan. Has been on the radio prior to National Day. The simplistic and very local lyrics sounds so awkward with the 气势澎湃的旋律 as it build up. Even got a MTV version !!!

This Roystan Tan movie getting quite abit of attention lately. Based on the 七月歌台, 已故陈金浪, this local movie which is more of a musical injected with laughter and tears. Going to catch it soon !

881 第一波主打, 一人一半. A hokkien song 重填下华语的词. 轻快和优美的旋律让人琅琅上口. 很喜欢 chorus 的词.

BPL : 11 Aug 2007

Finally it started, now called BPL rather than EPL. Little people were there to watch the match at CV or at least to support Spurs !

Sunderland v Spurs
Boring, dull, lack-lustre, lethargic. Spurs players didn't seem interest to get anything out of the match. A win is expected after big spendings.

The only new signing that made the start was Kaboul, he didn't impress, abit like "Rio" at times. But defence was still able to keep out a similar poor display by Sunderland.

Best chance fell to Berbatov who managed to hook the ball over Sunderland new $9 million pounds keeper but fail to take a shot at the open goal. Introduction of Bent as Spurs looked for a win with a 3 prong attack did not improve. The rest is non-mention till Sunderland scored on 93:03. Luck played a factor, it was evidently shown here.

West Ham v Manchester City
We chose to watch this over Bolton v Newcastle. Wanted to see how Thaksin/Eriksson's united nation team fare. If they can maintain how they played today for periods of time throughout, a top 6 finish is possible. West ham was overwhelmed though at home. Petrov, Elano, Bianchi and Hamman was stringing nice passes and creating chances. Their work rate was really high. If Spurs wanting to win that game was rated 6/10, this city team will be at least 9/10.

Bellamy was a passer-by. Zamora missed a chance. Sub Ashton's best chance flew just over the bar. They lost their way and ideas in the 2nd half. Geovanni added a second late after a impressive run by Onouha.

Villa v Liverpool
A contender for freekick of the century win the game for liverpool. Gerrard's gem curler right after Barry score from the spot for Villa after their relentless search for a equalizer. Young was a threat but Carew and Petrov has yet proved their worth. Reo-coker looked good in midfield.

Liverpool couldn't find the goal, not till Laursen put into his own net after deflecting Kyut's pull back. Torres looked good with some shots on goal and touches. Chelsea next sunday will be a early cruncher.

Friday Desserts@House

House was featured in a recent article in 8 days. I read that there is a ex-Raffles hotel chef working his or her magic there, that may explained why they served some mean cakes. We had the chai choco cake and strawberry shortcake last time round.

They won't quite prepared when we went on their second day of business. Now most of the staff are dressed in school uniforms, some which are quite young made them really looked like primary school kids. While some old ones, looked like they failed exams so many times that they are still wearing primary school uniforms.

This time, the choco almond cake and the apple cider did not disappoint too. I like the choco almond better.

The cake was thick, not spongy, externally covered with chocolate with some crunchy nuts on top coated with sweetie stuff.

The nuts were good. And of course, roasted almonds in and over it. In it are also chocolate bits.

Every bite of it gives a very full taste.

The apple cider was drenched in some sauce. Overall, it have a fruity taste and cake was thick as well, not spongy, but abit too sweet.

Another 2 wonderful cakes. Its cakes ranged from $7 to $12, abit on the high side but still worth having again.

Its food menu looks quite tempting too. Next time, most probably will have a full meal there.

In addition, with its selection of teas, should be a regular addition to our dinner places.

Parrots do talk

Friday Dinner@ChangBBQ

Chang BBQ was the so called 2nd choice since PS was not fated yesterday. Told by my friend, this was opened by someone working in Samsung.

The BBQ items are quite ex, prepare to spend if you are ordering and min 2 BBQ items. The marinated prime beef is about $35 before +++. There is also a set for 3 to share about $98 before +++.

We got fried vermicelli, braised beef hot pot, hot plate beef and some korean fried rice. The sets came with numerous small dishes like, yellow beansprouts, sour jelly, striped cucumbers, tofu, broccoli, kimchi, etc.

The fried vermicelli though an appetizer in the menu was enough to be a main dish. With beef, mushrooms, bell peppers ... fried with some peppery sauce, it was good, very savoury.

The hot plate beef is those kinda of you get in food court for like $5.50 to $6 for a set. This one cost $20 but came in a huge portion and of course you get the meaty beef rather than mincy type in food court.

The braised hot pot beef came in a big portion too but it is soupy. I think if one would eat this item individually, don't think one can finish. Overall, quite a pleasant meal. Most customers are koreans but it do get a decent Singaporean crowd.

Attempted Dinner@Prime Society

Dempsey is hot ! But the hottest should be this new boy in town ! Opened by the company that owned the Gelare chain.

At 6 pm, looks not open yet.
At 6:25 pm, we returned, still no walk in customers. So my friend went in and asked ....

Friend "What time are you guys open ?"
PS "We opened at 6:30 pm. Did you make a reservation ?"
Friend "No"
PS "Oh we are fully booked 3 days back"

Thunder pounded ! Lightning flashed across the sky !

PS "To avoid disappointment, you are advised to book 4 days in advance for weekends and 2 days in advance for weekdays"

Jin Eh Ah Neh Ho Jia Meh ?!??!?!?!?!?!??! Steak prices starts from $30 and above ... not cheap but most Singaporean don't mind the $$$.

We will be there next friday !!! Die Die !!!

Rush Hour 3

My gut feel is there won't be a Rush Hour 4.

With a crappy storyline, but at least on and off slapstick humour, Jackie's comedic action and tucker's AK47 blabbing of jokes/lines.

All these keeping the mood up for the movie.

But can Jackie and Chris continue rushing in a 4th instalment ?

My friend caught a scene where it wasn't Jackie doing a stunt.

Some Ambassador Han was assasinated by a triad boss, Kenji as he knows details about 帅深 which was though to be overall boss of chinese triads around the world. This explains why the movie got problem showing in China.

Some ding and dong here and there, Lee and Tucker got to Paris to find 帅深 but found out it was actuall a list rather then a person. It contains the names of the 13 triads lead around the world.

There is some tradition ritual thingie which states the list has to be tattooed on a woman and then she will be beheaded on don't know what night so that the list will be kept secret.

张静初, daugher of Han, is the vase in the sequel. She was the junkie who died horribly in Andy Lau's movie earlier this year, can't remember the name. So as usual, she got kidnapped by Kenji who wanted Geneviene who has the 帅深.

The final showdown scenes still quite entertaining. And of course, the NG scenes afterwards complements the movie. 7/10.

八月五号, 星期天, 晴

Family lunch at Tampines round market. The hakka yong tau hoo already closed by 1 pm :(

But seen Qs at 3 stalls, the noodles stall serving in black bowls. Basically noodles, bak chor, chicken feet, chicken wings or pork ribs. Looked good.

The other one will be the wanton mee stall 01-45. The Q about 8 to 10 persons is constant and slow. At least 30 mins wait !!!

The noodles got Q 感 but not enough chilli. But then the sauce alone is enough. 3 wantons in the soup, 2 deep fried wantons, Char siew and vege completes it.

The soup was bland ... Somehow. The wantons not bad as you can actually taste the meat. The deep fried ones is very crispy. But the highlight was the deep fried 水饺 we ordered, crispy with chunks of meat and other stuff in it. The meat was very savoury. Very good.

Desserts time !!! But but but ... the 莲子羹 was sold out. Left with almond paste which I dislike the almond taste, so I got the Tao Suan. So So, my mum's one is better :)

Car Bath
Time to bath my car. But the MSC were filled with T-bikers washing their bikes and another sedan occupying another lot. Was waiting at the side ... then came along 2 more bikers. One female raspuchia T biker came in a pink T-shirt.

Okie ... that put me off. Vroom I go. Decided to go for my first petrol station car wash. $6 is expensive for a 5 min job. For the end results I got, Hmmmmmm ... the dirt and white dots are off so probably still quite satisfied.

Alone

Directed by people behing the popular Thai Horror "The Shutter". Maybe the shutter was really good, Alone was quite disappointing. Build up was slow in the beginning then scenes trying to scare you started.
About a twin sisters joined together in the middle, the joint didn't looked complicated that during operation one will die. No explanation was given why on die and why there was a separation. Ploy and Pim were the sisters.

It started showing Pim happily married to a guy and living in Korea. Celebrating her bday but then news of her stroked mother flew them back to thailand. The house they were staying in feels haunted from the first look.

Pim started to see her dead twin but why ? Revenge ? And typically a psychiatrist will be there to treat her just to lengthen the movie. And such treatment usually to no avail and in some movie, the psychiatrist may die but not in this one.

Then flashback to the past starts, the hubby knows the twin from young at the hospital. Pim and him was in love. But Ploy was jealous, became agitated and violent. Finally, Pim wanted them to be separated. Ploy secretly liked him too.

Horror movie. Thai, Jap or Korean ... Just out to scare you. So building up the mood and atmosphere is crucial then striking the hammer at the right moment ... Then scare you till you pushed yourself up your seat or do some self-gripped or turned your head away but still peeped or covered your mouth in awe or worse you might shit in your pants.

And of course, screamed like most gals will do.

The X factor separating a good horror movie and the rest will be the twist. For Alone, the twist became more evident as the movie moved along. Ermmm ... the one who died was Pim. And not at the surgical table but was strangled to death by Ploy.

It became a thriller in the end. Ploy killed her mother so that to ensure her not telling her hubby she was Ploy and not Pim. But in the end was killed by her hubby. 6/10.

Saturday Dinner@Old Hong Kong

We returned again. They serve quite good food considering Cha Chan Teng level. It was packed but if I will compare this to the Q at Auston. Not sure if this was normal for Auston on a Sat evening, it was a Q that caught attention of other people across the street !

Back to OldHk, an interesting addition. Now they have free Wi-Fi, not sure since when but it is protected. You need a WEP key but upon asking a staff ... I gave up. Apparently, she does not know what I am talking about, keep saying it is a ISP issue as too many people maybe connecting.

Salt & Pepper squid. Desert Storm Chicken. Baked Broccoli with Portugese Sauce. The SP squid goes very well with rice with its crispy, savoury and spicy.
The chicken is called 大漠风沙鸡 !!! So literally is desert storm chicken ! It was good. Basically roast chicken with deep fried garlic on top of it. The meat was very tender and the garlic gives it a fragrant taste.
The baked broccoli was something new. But at $12, abit expensive to me. Came in a boat shape like utensil usually for baked rice. The sauce was yellow and quite thick with a concentrated cheese in the centre. Not bad.

Belgian Waffle Q

At the belgian waffles Q ...

Gf was queuing ...
Bf came along. Asking her to sit while he q and buy.
Gf says it was okay. Bf q along with her but then he went off somewhere after a while.

A while later, he came back.

Bf "I saw who and who over there." *Then hinting in a subtle way, whether want to join them*
Gf "They saw you ? Did you say hello ?"
Bf "Acknowledge Yes in a sort of manner"
Gf "Why don't you go over and join them ? I buy already then come over."

Then started a string of "You go join them lah" "Don't need lah. I can ask them out next time" thingie of conversations. It sounded awkward as it dragged on.

I think it concluded that they won't join his friends.

Saturday T break@Toa Payoh Rojak

Mentioned in Ch 8's snack show on thursday. Near the TP library, situated at a small and packed coffeeshop.

Quite stuffy and with poor ventilation. Ordered at 1510 hrs, my number was 83. Current at that time was 53 !!!

..... 1530
.
..... 1545
.
..... 1555
.

..... 1605 !!!! Finally my number flashes at the LED ! A sense of accomplishment and ultimate satisfactions. Was like you have not eat, you already 潜意识里 telling yourself .... This rojak is damn shoik and nice !!!

Seems like this stall is related to the "Toa Payoh Rojak" at old airport road. The rojak is scattered with very generous amount of peanuts. The first bite was ..... A just right taste, not too sweet, not too overwhelming, not too saltish. The you cha kuey was only slightly crispy, could have been nicer if it was re-烘过.

The old airport one is more savoury maybe of a more potent dose of 虾膏. This rojak with such a huge of group of fan base looks like will stay popular till don't know when, at least for people in TP.

But then worthwhile for the 1 hour wait ? Probably will get it during off-peak hours, if it do have !!!

Friday Dinner@Golden Mile FC

Good and cheap food are found in hawker centres. Including this one along beach road as well. Prawn noodles, beef noodles, char kway tiao, hor fun, curry chicken noodles, soup tulang, jap food, peanut soup with glutinous rice balls and recently belgian waffle and its fondue set.

The curry chicken noodles at B1-53 was damn good. For $3 a bowl and its generous serving. The gravy soup base was just the right amount of savour, not too salty and not too spicy. Tau pok, fish cakes and chicken completes it.

Compare to the Hong Lim, this one is just right. The HL one is really really savoury, might be too extreme for some people.

Long Q at the belgian waffle stall. I believe they got their fair bit of media attention and accolade recently. The royal fondue set was popular, at $14.80, you get tiny waffles pieces, marshmallows, fruits and 2 scoops of ice cream. Saw finished fondue pots on numerous tables.
Waiting is a definite.

I got the set D, which is 2 waffles with the chocolate dip + 1 scoop of ice cream. Choice of coffee, banana or green tea. At $6, it is pricey.

The waffles are small, about the size of my palm. *Mine is really not that big*. It was really hot as they are made on the spot per order. There are something crunchy found in the waffles, can't figure out what was that though. The chocolate dip goes well with the hot waffle, just the right concentration but if it is abit less sweet and more bitter, than it will be better.

They even have royalty cards. Anyway, the ice cream is a non-mention, average, actually abit disappointing on the ice-cream.

EPL 07/08

It will cost $25 to watch EPL matches on top of your basic subscription.

Significant transfers were going on. Big spendings or numerous transfers for clubs. Gillette boys bought over Liverpool. A politically handicapped but still rich Thaksin took over Man City. But ferguson, mourihno, wenger, benitex, jol are still at helm respectively.

Chelsea
Spend the least comparing to their past season spree. Sidwell, Ben Haim, Pizzaro all came onboard free. With Robben somehow buay song, Malouda was brought in to add some flair. Robben impending departure to Real Madrid seems near. Shevchenko is still around despite strong rumours he will be back at Milan. Terry renewed his contract to become the highest paid player in England at $135,000 pounds a week. A definite challenge for the title !!!

Man United
Big spendings. Wonder where they get the money or probably is like Courts "Pay $1 and drive away with your purchase" kinda of deal. Owen Hargreaves finally joined but he is defensive so Carrick will get some challenge ? Brazilian Andersen and Portugese Nani also came along for about $30 million pounds, alot of money !!! Smith should be joining Sam at Newcastle and Rossi went to Villareal. Nani touted as the next Ronaldo, so we have 2 "Ronaldos" ? 1 left ? 1 right ?
New players ... New formation ? Retaining title depends how well the team gels.

Liverpool
Disappointment season after season. Long gone were the glory days. But when will it rekindle such records again, new owners, huge funds but lack of targets to buy or Benitez is just biased ?
Weeks of rumours and pressure on who will Liverpool buy and in fact they do need injection of raw quick talents. Torres joined for $20 million pounds. 8 new signings. Major ones will be Voronin, Babel, Benayoun, Lucas. With Zenden, Cisse, Bellamy, Fowler, Garcia, Dudek out, some spring cleaning was done. Looks like a do or die mission for Benitez, though early news of no promise of success was already out. Very much will lies on how Torres perform, he is not even doing that well in Spain, doubts are casting over how many will he scores.

Arsenal
Henry finally left. As the likes of Petit, Pires and Vieria, who formed the france contingent in Arsenal which brought them EPL titles. Croatian forward Eduardo Silva was bought in for about $10 million pounds. Never heard of him till Arsenal got him, so with Adebayor and Van Persie. Arsenal will be looking at them to bring in goals. Bendtner returns from loan will fight for a place. Don't forget so called wonder kid Walcott, my view was he disappoint last season. Lehmann is already 37, probably play another season. Polish Lubias Fabianski was brought in, maybe to understudy him. Bakary Sagna's pace and Gibbs's nice touches caught my attention during their match against Inter. With a huge gap left behind by Henry to fill, either someone steps up or a consistent team performance should pose threats to Man U and Chelsea.

Tottenham
Go ! Go ! Go ! My favourite team ! Berbatov was a steal last season comparing to what he contributed. Keane was excellent with his brillance on and off. Midfield was patchy and as of defence leaking too many goals. Numerous signings for 07/08. The one that caught the attention will be Darren Bent, Well ... he is good but for $18 million pounds ? I am hoping he can proved that ! Relegated Charlton must be smiling all the way. Bale, Taarabt, Kaboul and Kevin Boateng joined along the way. All are very young and had been Jol's plan to bring in youngster. Defoe had a patchy last season, not sure how long he will stay with Bent's arrival. The Egyptian duo went to Birmingham. A convincing win against Sunderland will be a good start to verify any threats Spurs will be offering this season.

Chunky Monkey

Most probably will not choose this flavour if over the counter. But I choose this when I bought it at Caltex. It was really good .... though abit sweet. But if every bite was with the fudge chunks in it, perfect !!! The banana taste was just nice and the crunchy crunch walnut goes well with it !
