A comedy drama quite within my expectations, is a norm fresh grad who make it big in the real world kinda of movie, with light hearted moments, some funny scenes, happy ending ... all from the glitzing glamour of the fashion world in New York.
Based on a hugely successful novel by Lauren Weisberger, Meryl Streep portrayal of Miranda Priestly, the influential, merciless, abusive editor-in-chief of the magazine Runway, which dictates the fashion world, is indeed very impressive. She is the hell boss which everyone is terrified of !!!
She has 2 assistants, Emily the first assistant which takes care of her business related "chores" and the other assistantssssss which did not went well and left. Not a job a norm person can take, you have to be slim, okay real slim, knows how to dress, can take emotional, irrational, unappreciative, destructive antics from Miranda. And along the way, came Anne Hathaway, she is Andrea Sachs, a fresh grad who wants to be a journalist but ended up getting the job 11 out of 10 girls would dreamt of !
Did I say she was stunning when she really dressed up in the movie ? She is not that kind of first look which everyone thinks she is pretty kind, at least to me. Look at the picture, she is damn gorgeous !
Okay, back to the movie ... the story goes on how the intially "hates fashion", "disappointing" Andrea became the "New Emily", As days goes by, Miranda starts to like her, impress with some of her ways to get things done for her, and finally called her Andrea, as initially she calls her Emily, who knows on purpose or not. As she gets more "in" to her job, her relationship with her bf and friends starts to fade, but since is a happy ending, doesn't matter anyway when this happens in the middle of the show.
A nice movie ... gets 7 out of 10 !
Moment of the movie :
Emily was dying to go to Paris with Miranda for the fashion show so she was on a special diet, and was telling Andrea that while they were walking up the stairs to a party
Emily : "I am on a special diet ... basically I don't eat anything" :)
