Alone

Directed by people behing the popular Thai Horror "The Shutter". Maybe the shutter was really good, Alone was quite disappointing. Build up was slow in the beginning then scenes trying to scare you started.
About a twin sisters joined together in the middle, the joint didn't looked complicated that during operation one will die. No explanation was given why on die and why there was a separation. Ploy and Pim were the sisters.

It started showing Pim happily married to a guy and living in Korea. Celebrating her bday but then news of her stroked mother flew them back to thailand. The house they were staying in feels haunted from the first look.

Pim started to see her dead twin but why ? Revenge ? And typically a psychiatrist will be there to treat her just to lengthen the movie. And such treatment usually to no avail and in some movie, the psychiatrist may die but not in this one.

Then flashback to the past starts, the hubby knows the twin from young at the hospital. Pim and him was in love. But Ploy was jealous, became agitated and violent. Finally, Pim wanted them to be separated. Ploy secretly liked him too.

Horror movie. Thai, Jap or Korean ... Just out to scare you. So building up the mood and atmosphere is crucial then striking the hammer at the right moment ... Then scare you till you pushed yourself up your seat or do some self-gripped or turned your head away but still peeped or covered your mouth in awe or worse you might shit in your pants.

And of course, screamed like most gals will do.

The X factor separating a good horror movie and the rest will be the twist. For Alone, the twist became more evident as the movie moved along. Ermmm ... the one who died was Pim. And not at the surgical table but was strangled to death by Ploy.

It became a thriller in the end. Ploy killed her mother so that to ensure her not telling her hubby she was Ploy and not Pim. But in the end was killed by her hubby. 6/10.
