Saturday Dinner@Tom Ton
Central Sq has its abundance of restaurants in a single mall, mainly japanese. Though still think its design of the mall is abit not user-friendly. Didn't really know there are pigs that are black other than wild boars.
Tom ton serves black pig tonkatsu. The set comes with quite standard items from other jap restaurants, salad, miso soup, rice and fruits. The cabbage salad is shredded ultra thin and the tomatoes that came with it are somehow very good.
The miso soup is better than norm ones which I do not really like. This one taste different, maybe with the other ingredients it had in it. The deep fried black pig spare rib was not bad, done in a way in which you won't taste it was deep fried and goes quite well with the sauce but there are some parts which are tough though.
Of course the main dish is the tonkatsu, it is breaded so every bite is very crispy. You can choose from the normal grade or the top grade premium ones for a difference of about $5.
Though I can't really taste the difference as it probably come from different parts of the pig. I had the tempura and black pig set, the tempura is much better than the pig. Though breaded as well but the prawns in it is still very fresh, not oily.
The tonkatsu from tonkichi is better :) It came out to about $35 per pax, with a few bucks more, we could have hop over to Merchant court for its buffet :)
