Fields of Dreams

An event to mark the final major activities at the national stadium which was supposed to be teared down at end of the year. About time they do that, expectation was it somehow was suppose to be done much much earlier.

Game 1 - SG Oldies vs Msia Oldies
A game of 20 mins halves. Miss the Sundram's goal as we arrive about 10 mins into the first half. The good seats are alreay filled in the east wing but still manage to get ourselves some at the edge of the centre area.

It was still hot ... damn hot ... total opposite to the radio's recommendation to bring umbrella because of stormy rain expected. Game was slow, dry, hot, damn hot, still slow. Finally ended. Ended 1-1, after Msia equalize through a penalty and obviously they forgot how to dive. Fandi didn't even bother to come back.

Opening Ceremony
Selected former and current sportspersons walked the stadium one round before this guy, can't remember this name, went all the way up to to top at the cauldron area and light it up !!! Then it was death wait till the SG vs Australia game starts. TK school band came out to occupy some time but it was still hot, not really in the mood to enjoy band.

Game 2 - SG vs Australia
Finally, the sun after it's OT went home. Australia was a tempo down in the first half, SG has all the chances to put the game away. Open goal miss from corner, header against the cross bar, one-on-one saved, curling low shot against the pole, one penalty claim and several half chances.

Failing to put away chances clinically has been the problem for SG all years. The 3-0 scoreline flattered the australian. After viduka head in a weak goal when Lionel failed to handle a incoming cross, it seems destined the gap will widen. Kewell came on with good effect and shows some good footwork/touches. Scored an angled low shot and created the 3rd for Viduka.

With such showing, the australians will have to step up if they will want to win the Asian Cup.

Closing Ceremony
All the lights went out. Mark and Brian came out and do their stuff. Interview someone who won gold in the first ever event at the national stadium. Then some other moments was mentioned, Sundram's goal against Brunei, Indra's goal against Indon and Lionel's save against Msia.

All the sportspersons of the past and current paraded round the stadium, then Kit Chan perform with a song and soon it followed by 90s of expired and weak fireworks.

After that, it was Zouk's event Lightsout. Not sure how this went though, $15 for you to dance in the middle of the stadium, there are some people who trickled in just for this though.
