First chance of the game fell to Perrotta when he was put through by Totti ... poor first touch allows Lehmann to smother the ball ...

A Camaneresi miss pass in midfield led to a German break which allows Schneider to fire over the bar when he was put through on the right side of the penalty box by Klose ...

Germany claims for a penalty when Pirlo was judged to have raise his elbow to stop a ball nodded over by Ballack ... Ballack did not impose himself in the game ... happy to pass the ball to the side most times ...

Italy started well in extra time ... with Gilardino hitting the post when he dribbles past Ballack with ease but only to have a mishit shot ... Zambrotta skim the cross bar with his shot at the edge of the penalty box ...

Iaquinta/Del Piero came on for Camoranesi/Perotta
both sides press for the winner ... but to no avail ...
Del Piero fails to convert a chance when he was in the penalty box back facing Lehmann ...

119 minute ... Pirlo shot was palmed away for a corner ... which Italy has 12 corners in the game ... 8 of them went straight to Lehmann .... But this one counts ! The corner fell to Pirlo outside the penalty box when threads a great pass to Grosso who curls the ball precisely into Lehmann's left hand post ...

A minute later ... in a breakaway ... Gilardino's sqaure pass to Del Piero sets him away with an one-on-one with Lehmann which he curls it away to Lehmann's right ...
