Friday Dinner@Tonkichi

I think they added more items to their menu, like curry and claypot stuff. Selling point is still their tonkatsu, either fillet or loin. The loin one has fat meat in it, that is the only difference, of course the way they are served, fillet comes in rounded pieces. Loin comes in large piece cut into stripes.

I decided to have the pork fillet with curry. It comes with rice, salad and fruits. The curry comes in a separate bowl which is always welcome, rather then drenched it at the side. Jap curry has never being spicy, it gives a thick texture with more savory than hot.

Another thing I like about their tonkatsu is that it is not that oily when served, probably they did the necessary oil filtering inside. Very crispy on the outside and chunks of meat in it. Every main meal also comes with unlimited cabbage where you can drenched the seaweed sauce on them. If you take the premium set like my friends, you get a bowl with sesame where you are supposed to grind it with the given thingie, then add the "jile" dark sauce.

No discounts for credit cards at the moment. But for the tonkatsu set, priced at about $25 to $35, considered still reasonable. Also found out they are under Pokka group, which also runs the Pasta cafe.

Dessert was tapas ice cream at bakerzinn. Problem with this not quite enjoyable to have it alone, as it comes in damn small glasses, at the rate of eating the ice cream but skillfully scooping with the small spoon. It was like a race to prevent the other 2 from melting. And somehow it melts too fast, still having the impression that premium ice cream shouldn't melt so easily.

Another KT thing, they name their ice cream with wonderful names but without telling WTF is the ice cream. Who in the world will know Arabella ice cream is chocolate banana ? As it melts too fast, most of the time I was tasting shake.
