Inspired by true events. About a scottish doctor who travels to Uganda and in an moment of audacious action, he became the the personal physician and confidante of the President, Idi Amin ( 1971 to 1979 ) who killed an estimated 300,000 and have strong ties with the PLO.

Doctor Garrigan was so fasicinated about his new position and ties with the President but as time goes by, he knew about this savagery and the how he was implicate into all the shit. In addition, this xiao kia got involved with one of the President's wife ... Win Liao !!!

Whitaker's performance as the President was quite intriguing, his sudden change of facial expression and tone dictates how erratic he was. Interestingly, the movie show few scenes where he was wearing numerous medals on his uniform which was altered to fit that many medals.

And he gave himself many titles and the radio would read out "His Excellency Al-Hadji Field Marshal Dr. Idi Amin Dada, VC, DSO, MC, CBE, Life President of the Republic of Uganda" ... Win oredi

Think doze off a couple of time during the 2 hr+ movie ... was a midnight show

Moment of the movie :

Definitely will be the scene at the airport where Amin wanted to kill doc, literally hooking him up and hanged him. But somehow, another doc saw it and managed to save him. And he fled with the rest of the hostages in a plane out of Uganda.

Afternoon Break@The Turquoise Room

Located inside a army camp, Gilman camp to be exact. Now the camp became Gilman village, there are other chillout places and a so called foodcourt there.

The turqoise room gives a rustic look and feel with his wooden frame/furnitures. When we went, seems like someone is shooting something, an ang moh was in a bride gown.

Items on the menu was normal, nothing special. But the food/desserts was recommended by 1 or 2 TV shows, can't remember what were they.

This alfresco seating area should be a nice place to be, maybe at night when there are breezes blowing at you.

Beware of mosquitoes though, got 1 or 2 bites when I am there !

It feels like a getaway from the bustling and heavy traffic jam you get in the CBD area.

Opens till around midnight on friday and saturday.

Singapore vs Malaysia

Whenever these 2 sides meet, it is always an emotional encounter. But the sellout crowd of 55,000 was a surprise !!! I have to be in office on saturday afternoon, didn't expect that to stretch so late, lucky still managed to go off around 6:25 pm.

Expected Jam all the way from Fort road, but my "competent" "malay fighting men" cab driver did the job ! Pure inspiration ! He skipped at least 20 to 30 over cars when he use a right turn only lane to turn left ! Must thank him ....

2 friends are already there, when i reached, gallery still quite empty.

Fully packed when game starts, with people still trickling in ....

First half was dull, with Singapore having the edge but the last stretch of attack failed them, Alam Shah has the best chance when he capitalize on the KT defensive mistake, but his weak shot did not trouble the keeper.

Singapore playing a mixture of direct and passing game but favour the direct route more pile on in the second half but to no avail. KTsia playing a pass to feet game took a surprise lead against the game of play when lionel lewis's fluke save saw the ball bounce over him and into the net !!!

Singapore push forward for an equalizer and soon got rewarded when KTsia keeper fail to hold on to Alam Shah header and Riduan pounce on the mistake to tuck the ball in !!!

Singapore has a few chances to take the lead but lack the final punch .... Extra time it is

Extra time ... KTsia seems to be playing for the shootout as Singapore attack ... the highlight of the 2 halves was Precious 35 metres thunderbolt which was destined to flew in the top left hand corner but somehow was amazing saved and tipped away for a corner !!!

Replugged - Lesson 17

The start of level 2 lessons ! Not sure how to describe what is Arpeggio, is like playing the 151 bass notes on your left hand in succession rather than simultaneously. That will give you 3 beats, 5 more beats comes from any of the notes of the chord you are playing. It can come from your right hand or left, but if left will result in too much bass.

And of course, the string of notes must sound harmonic and nice.

The song to play is 当你孤单你会想起谁 ....... Playing arpeggio gives you a very smooth and calm feel .... soft and loud provides the 起伏 of the song ... connecting every chord smoothly is important as it suppose to be like standing at the quiet beach ... listening to the waves and feeling the breeze :)

Apocalypto

The movie was dialogued in the Yukatek Maya language and with an unknown cast. The plot revolves round Jaguar Paw, his small village and people was invaded by Zero wolf and his henchmen. His father bled to death infront of him when his throat was slit by Middle eye. But his quick wit before that made him hid his wife, Seven and son, Turtle run, they were lowered into a pit and managed to escape captive.

With all his prisoners, zero wolf led them back to Maya City where the ruler needs to scarifice them for the sun god KuKulkan. Finally, they were back to Maya City, till they reach the place of scarifice, the path throughout depicts the slaves working and the people who live in the city.

The captured women were sell off at the market area while men were painted blue then move on.

The scarifice
The ruler and their men were up on a high platform with a very long flight of steps leading up. The scarfice will be laid face up on a stone object while the priest stabbed him to death and extract his heart out. Then the head will be chopped off and throw off the down the steps. People watching from below cheered on as they looked on.

It was Jaguar Paw's turn to be scarifice but of course he cannot die as he is the main lead. When he was about to be stab, a solar eclipse occured. *fastest solar eclipse ever* Then the priest annouced, the son god is already pleased so no more scarfice was needed.

Therefore, zero wolf led the rest of the captives away for a game. They were brought to a battlefield, zero wolf's son was given the "finisher" role. Two at a time, they were told to run, if they can go past the corn field, they are free to go.

But then, where got so easy lor ....

As they run, the henchmen will threw every god damn weapons they have at them. The first 2 didn't make it, one barely reach the "finisher" but kena finshed there. It was Jaguar Paw's turn, the and his partner ran fast in a zig-zag manner. This make it hard for the men to hit them, but anyway Jaguar Paw was hit in the tummy by an arrow. He still managed to stagger to the finisher, broke the arrow head, with a swift move, stabbed into the "finisher" neck.

Zero wolf's son fell to the ground in split second. Jaguar paw pulled all his strength and ran off. Zero wolf charged forward and held his son in his arms. In a fit of extreme rage, led his man in a chase of days and nights to kill Jaguar Paw.

This is the start of the most intense part of the movie. Jaguar, somehow blessed with some KT power, ran on and on and on and on and on .... outwitted them and killed them one by one. Then it became to rain, knewing his wife and son is in the pit. He ran to the pit to save them but still got 2 men chasing him.

His wife of course also "power", survived a fall while climbing up using a vine. The water could not drown her, she held her son up and EVEN GAVE BIRTH TO A BABY UNDERWATER !!!

Jaguar and the 2 men ran to the beach, they stopped and was stunned. Ships on the water, people came in boats. Jaguar took this chance and ran back, saved his wife and children.

From that moment onward, they went back to the jungle to seek their new beginning ....

Moment of the movie :
A jaguar pounce on one of the men, there are few seconds which you can see it verociously chewing and biting off his face !!!

ASEAN FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP

AKA Tiger Cup where Singapore is the defending champion. A tournament for SEA countries who just could not perform outside this arena. Was at the Singapore vs Laos match, in the VIP area. A win was widely expected, question is by how many goals.

VIP area is by invitation only. Basically, you watch the game in a aircon area with a small buffet spread during half time. Or you can watch the game in the VIP area above the grand stand.

A double digit scoreline was never expected. Laos simply lost their way after the 4th or 5th goal. Every 2 or 3 Singapore attack resulted in a goal. When it was 7-0, became like a training match. Or like playing against ChangKat Changi Secondary School 'B' Team. *Not even the 'A' team*

Took a cab to National Stadium ...

Cab : "You go there watch football ar ?"
Me : "Ya"

Bus 31

Has been raining non-stop again for the past few days, somehow stopped when I woke up. Washed up, breakfast, read papers, shower, changed then left. Bus 31 was quite prompt today, but that is if I can get up the bus with 100000000000000000 ITE students infront of me.

NOW I KNOW POLAR BEARS ALSO TAKE BUS 31 !!! BECOZ THE AIRCON WAS SO COLD THAT IT MUST HAVE BEEN FOR THE POLAR BEARS !!!

And when the weather is damn hot, you will not get the air-con that cold or blasting at you.
Sigh :(

真的那么好吃吗 ?

Rafffles City's basement has been transformed into another world for a while already. Yesterday evening then I was told by a friend, somehow this food outlet must be making "Knn NBCB FH" so tasty, delicious, palatable donuts. Seems like DONUTS of the donuts by looking at the queue.



Most probably just a temporary craze which Singaporeans are famous for. A glance at the menu displaying on top, "Spicy Cheese" donut caught my attention, Hmmmmm ... Interesting.

But quite difficult to get one though unless I gather some kind of determination to queue and buy one. Maybe next time.

The papa beard outlet just beside the donut shop was a opposite total extreme contrast. It's "Please Queue Here" sign looks cold and neglected for a long time.

Maybe the donuts are priced quite reasonable and so attracted people to buy. Papa's Beard which has been here quite a while cost at least $2 to $4 depends what you buy.

2007's Luck

2007 supposed to be a good year for Dragons according to Chinese Animal Signs. Though year of the 猪 have not started, I definitely is using the luck already. Thanks to some KT driver, not really a KT, but his driving is KT.

Out for lunch with friend, he was cruising along bedok reservoir road heading to Tampines Ave 10, at the T-junction, with green in our favour, almost reaching the junction. A KNN, NBCB, F*cking Hell, KTKL, Ptui pickup who was trying turning right edged out to see if there was any car going straight, he edge out too much, by the time he saw us, he hesitate somemore !!! Friend do the E-brake and try to avoid him but was too late. Our front left BANG !! with his back left.

Impact wasn't great for the airbag to come out ( Anyway, my side no air bag !!! $#@%!#@!@%$%$!#% ). But at least driving the car again *a no no*, cannot straighten the front wheels anymore, power window not working, bonnet bang open on the left side, etc.

On the bright side, pickup admitted was his fault. Took down each other's particulars then he say he need to go off first. A while later, a car stopped in front of us offering to help. He is from STAR workshop, advising us what to do. Our car was towed to his workshop and follow up with all the paper work.

Not bad, still got replacement car. Maybe is claiming against the pickup, so they can charge him more. I found out that other than passengers in taxi and buses, the rest cannot be a witness to accidents, Hmmmmmm.

Anyway, 有惊无险 :) :(

Blood Diamond

An intense and gripping drama set against the chaotic civil war in Sierra Leone in the 1990s. The movie started with one of the main character, Djimon Hounsou as Solomon Vandy, he was waking his son up for school. Everyday, the son will walked 5km to his school to attend lessons.

But that day will be the last, as rebels attacked their village. Now I know 乱枪扫射 originate from where !!! This is the only one of the many scenes of such battles, whether between rebels and civilians, rebels and the government, etc.

The rebels acted as some kind of election will be going on. The rebels cannot force the civilians to vote for them, but they can make sure the civilians cannot vote for the goverment !! By chopping off their hands !! Hiong !

Solomon was spared as he looked strong enough to work in the diamond fields. Conflicts diamonds is the main item that strings the plots together. With that, he found a rare pink diamond which he managed to hide but just to allow a rebel saw him hidding the gem.

But he was lucky as an air raid disrupted that, all of them captured by the government and brought to prison. In there, Leonardo Di Carprio as Danny Archer, heard the conversation and knew of this rare gem.

Therefore, he got him out and begun their journey to retrieve this diamond. Each with his own agenda, Archer, a diamond smuggler wants the diamond for himself though he is entangled in the web of the syndicate and company involved in the conflict diamonds. Solomon just wants his family back.

Along the way, they met "Eye Candy", Jennifer Connelly as Maddy Bowen, a journalist who wanted to expose this exploitation of how this diamonds gets "legally" out of the country.

With her help, Solomon found his family but only to his disbelief, his son was captured by the rebels.

Archer and Maddy seems to have feelings for each other though only known for a very short while. Or maybe a certain kind of admiration for what each other was doing. Archer seemingly the bad guy that acts as the powerful middleman that gets all the conflicts diamonds out of the country, as usual is righteous and kind by heart.

In the end, they got the diamond but Archer has to die whom got a gunshot. No die no Nomination. Solomon and his son manged to escape with the help of Archer. Archer's last satelite call to Maddy who was back in New York set the mood for him to die, who was deem to belongs to Africa.

Moment of the movie :
For such an intense film, light hearted moments delights. A small talk conversation between Archer and Solomon goes like this.
Archer "Okay now, you have to pretend to be a cameraman. I am the journalist"
Solomon "No, I can't" *Looking damn serious*
Archer "Why not ?"
Solomon "Because I am not a cameraman" :)

Guiness Book of Record

Singaporeans have been doing up quite a number of records in the past few years, be it longest whatever, largest whatever, etc. But this one definitely will be considered as one of the its outstanding achievement.

It is by a taxi driver.

Boarded this taxi in middle road, heading to Vivo. Quite a old uncle, looking at his head of white hair. Only during 1/3 through the journey, I notice it !!!! Then whispered to my friend, shocked as well, same reaction. I can't resist to take a picture of this remarkable thing !

Friday Dinner@Bakerzin

Met up with 2 friends before I go for my keyboard class. Decided to go Bakerzin as never been there before. We flipped through the menu a few rounds, not sure to eat a main course or have some desserts first, due to having to wait for another friend, whom quite standard of not able to leave on the dot.

Since it is suppose to be famous for its dessert and the picture of the "Warm Chocolate Cake" was quite oustanding, it has to be this. My friend got the scouffle which I told her normally it is suppose to be good. At least, the last one which I tried was good.

*Bakerzin do not serve ice water. AND neither do they put ice in the glass which serve ur evian or perrier. Maybe if you ask they will, so you can wait for the ice cubes to melt to make it another glass of ice water*

Here comes the cake ! It is like a cup cake, rather small with it's hefty price tag attaching to it. A lump of vanilla bean ice cream came on top of it. And around them are few slices of strawberries and berries. The best of it will be the chunk of rich and thick *Some chocolate. Forgot the name* that was in-fuse into the centre of the cake. Very nice, the vanilla bean ice cream was good too.

Too bad, this thingie cost $9.80+++.

The scouffle was a non-mention. Somehow, seen a number of people order Pepsi which cost $3.80 which you could get for $0.50 at NTUC ?

Tweak of an eye - Long Weekend is OVER

Year 2006 was supposed to be a year with many long weekends and plenty of long breaks if you take leave in between the holidays or extend them. Has been sleeping at around 3+ am for the past few days ... phone rang this morning around 10+ am.

Hmmm ... seeing that the call was from a colleague, then during that split second in my mind I knew what must have happened. The holidays list was not updated for 2007 ! Only 1st Jan 2007 was known to be a holiday but not 2nd Jan at that time.

Overlooked this ... sigh ... dragged myself up ... washed up .... changed ... hopped in a cab ... 20 mins ... I am at the other end of the island ... made the change ... hopped in a cab ... 20 mins ... I am back to tampines.

Still early ... so cut my hair ... bought milk, cereals and "Nuts about chocolate" ice cream !! Was home before 1 pm, then eat my lunch which is a cheesy pork floss sausage bread and chocolate malt milk.

Downloaded some movies and episode 31 of 赌国风云, then zzz monster came ... took a short nap ... was up in less than 45 mins.

Good weather ( before it rains), so went for a jog ... usually it will freshen me up ... that is if I can get myself to start the jog :)

"忘记你我做不到", "我难过", "假装", "伤心的人更伤心", "活该","可乐戒指" ... accompanied me during the jog in my nifty shuffle. Been wanting to jog more, but most times just abit lazy :p

Practice my keyboard ... while waiting to warm down. After the shower, really felt refreshed. Had my dinner, played my "FM 2007" game. Then watched movie trailers at Apple website, quite a number of blockbuster movies coming up ... watched TV ... preparing to get sleepy. That about sums it up.

回顾 2006

As usual when the year comes to an end, you get to see TV programme or the news which reflect back on what happen in current year. Major sports events, local current affairs, KT AQ activities, world news, financial and economic statistic ... etc.

But more importantly, what happened to me in 2006 ? Usually, Most people will received links or attachment that provide advice/information on how your horoscope or animal sign will behave in the new year.

事业
Finally, changed job after a very long time in OCBC, started the new stint in March. About 9 mths in the job, it gives more satisfaction maybe I am much more involved in more areas. And of course, financially is something which I believe is what I deserved. But then, feeling that business wise, it is not getting anywhere, so .... we will see how

健康
Took a free health check in Nov, somehow cholestrol level is still above healthy range. Something which I am still puzzle, I do not eat anything specific constantly and at a significant amount, I excercise regularly. Hmmmm ...

爱情
在伤害中慢慢痊愈, 在错愣中寻找答案, 在茫然中摸索方向, 在牵挂中压抑思绪, 在忘记中努力想起, 在黑夜里等待曙光, 在等待中细细回忆 ...

财运
This is something which I am really lack of. Whether it is 4d/TOTO/Ladbrokes/Equities, but at least equity investment is still something in which you can hold. 4d/TOTO is pure luck, soccer betting is still luck as the ball is round though some kind of thought needs to be put in. The human factor of 心理 and 贪念 plays a important factor as well !!!

倒数 2007

A little pub cum karaoke tucked away in Concorde shopping centre, now it is hotel holiday inn. Somehow, friend's friends knew people who worked there. We were the only one when we reached there, "how did they survive ?" crossed my mind.

Never mind that. So basically, you drink, you go and choose your songs then sing in the hall. As time ticks by, people came by but still not much. Waiting for the time when the countdown starts on Ch 5 and it is time for some "Snow Spray" War !!!

I think the countdown have not finished, people started to be defensive and preparing to get offensive !!! NO time to take video ... must take cover then attack !!!
