Sunday Dinner@Muratama Ramen

It opened for quite a while at Central but this is the first time I try it. Quite a long queue but quite fast we got in. Simple shop with a strong Jap ambience and layout. Even the menu was simple, only 3 main items. Ramen with chicken soup or Ramen with spicy chicken soup, can't remember what was the 3rd kind of soup, it didn't interest me.

Then you can choose add-ons from just a few items, pork belly, char siew, egg, extra noodles, etc. Then there is about 6 to 9 side dished you can choose. Anyway, the main is the ramen and it didn't disappoint at all. The ramen is like our mee kia but with a different texture and more Q and 弹性. The ramen given was quite alot though the bowl was small. A definite must mention is the soup, very tasty and the spicy one was just gives the right kick to the soup.

I had mine with added char siew, which simply melts in your mouth. The other vege additions and garnishes complements the ramen. We also tried the omelette thingie which came in thick chunks like tofu shape, the outer skin was sweet with the inside very soft and full of eggy taste.



If there is anything to complain about, it will be the price. A bowl without any addition is $13. Adding ... say char siew, will add $4. So at $20 after ++, not cheap but good.

Tropic Thunder

Hilarous with a Ben Stiller element movie, meaning the character he played must be suay somehow. I liked the way how the movie started. As the main plot was about a cast of the hottest, over the hill, went the wrong path and unknown actors came together to shoot the greatest war film ever. So it started with trailers of the movies by these actors. Interesting indeed and funny.

BS is Tugg Speedman, fame of the Scorcher franchise but he went full retard in the movie "Simple Jack", signalling his downfall. J Black is Jeff "Fart" Portnoy, famous for his multiple characters protray of extreme obese that fart for fun. R Downey Jr is Kirk Lazaraus, academy award winner, the trailer about his movie was really like a real movie but also with some funny moments, Spidey cameo in it !

The big budget war movie got its problem as rookie director having problem making the cast worked together. Then the so called guy 4 leaf who wrote the book which the movie got adapted from, gave an idea, put them into the real jungle and let their real emotions come out. It didn't went too well, the director was blown into pieces by a landmine. BS still as usual BSly telling that the blown up head wasn't real, lifting it up above his head and licking the undescribable thingie dripping all over him.

Not knowing that, there was a army of drug dealers in the jungle whom managed to capture 4 leaf and the explosive man. Then BS split with the rest, as he just abit pissed with RD Jr. He got caught as well but even worse they recongnize him as 笨蛋 Jack !! The army headed by some kid "who thinks by pulling open his shirt and showing BS his very pirated tatoo can scare the shit out of him". He made him do shows to his people, and somehow a kid appreciate him by giving some stick like doll which BS assume it was like an academy award.

He even started to acknowledge the kid as his son, calling him half squat ... Kaoz. Then RD Jr attempt to go back to the helicopter discover the location of this army and also knew BS was captured. This started their plan to save him. This RD Jr character was quite something, most of his dialogue was either tongue twister or some cheemology stuff but some were quite funny though.

There was even time for T Cruise and M McConaughey to come into picture. TC was some movie company boss whose every statement he speak will have at least few "f*ck" words, MM was BS agent, who kept insisting his client should get a TIVO on the movie set .. Quite persistently funny. In the end, it was this TIVO who saved them. The final battle scene was not bad ... firepower, flaming guns, bazuka, blown bridge, stabbing stepson, etc. The stabbing stepson was quite funny but too bad it was already shown in the trailer, so abit spoiler.

Very entertaining. 8/10

iPhone 3G - Tips and Tricks #5

With a JB iPhone, you get alot of other stuff out of it !! Themes, applications and games, etc. Once you JB you phone, you will get 2 new icons. Cydia and Installer. These 2 applications are like source of all the repositories of 3rd party stuff for iPhone. So to have more stuff to browse and download, you need more sources.

A google will let you find numerous cydia and installer sources. I like Cydia better because installer has been buggy. You do get lots of themes from Cydia and Installer but if you have some themes from other place, below is how you get them in your iPhone.

But then since the theme is downloaded to your PC, you have to find a way to transfer it to your iPhone. One thing you must have is a wireless broadband connection at home,

1) Search for SSH in Cydia or Installer. Install it
2) Search for BossPref in Cydia. It is a application that allows you to turn on/off for certain settings. Install it
3) Go to BossPref. Turn on SSH
4) Download WinSCP to your PC.
5) Turn on Wi-Fi
6) Go to BossPref. Check what is the IP address given to your iPhone
7) Start WinSCP
8) Login to the IP in 6). User id is "root". Password is "alpine"
9) You might get some message box. Just click "Yes"
10) Navigate to /private/var/mobile/Library/SummerBoard/
11) Copy your downloaded theme to 10)

十月十九日, 星期日, 雨

大概十点才到家, 驾车途中眼睛挣扎着, 好困, 还好似乎还撑得住. 昨晚的 job 还算顺利, 有惊无险. Probably we got that bit of luck ! 刷了牙, 洗了脸, 开了冷气 ... 就上床睡觉了. 醒来已是三点多钟了, 有点累不过还是起身了.

Finished watching 搜神传 ... Just started watching "与敌同行", 郭晋安 and 郑嘉颖 are the main leads. At episode 3 now, they are cousins but 嘉颖 went to jail wrongly for manslaughter and blamed 晋安 all along, as his words in court got him to prison. But when he was released, 晋安 helped to find out who was the real murderer. Not sure how the story will developed ....

Stoke vs Spurs tonight but somehow not showing on Starhub, crap ... Only one other match, not sure why paying so much, this match still not shown at all. And there is news, the subscription will increase to $44 next year !!!

Today will be a working day or maybe working night more appropriate. I hope to get back by 7 am, that is if "Po Pi Po Pi", most things goes smoothly, no surprises. Sometimes you just need that bit of luck, even at work.

I have not been updating about my iPhone tips and tricks. Let's see ... probably tomorrow will post some for "JB" iPhones !

Also have not been practising "我真的受伤了", past few weeks quite busy at work. Time at home seemingly spent on finishing my TVB series, playing new FIFA 09 online and also have new Prison Break and Heroes waiting for me to catch up !

十月十四日, 星期二, 风和日丽

I cleared 2 days leave as my contract is ending and won't be able to keep them. Still have to clear 9 days, hope to find some time to do that ! :) I took this chance and got my IKEA Expedit storage display with TV console.

Had been considering it and finally decided to get it. It replaced my current one. The current one was actually part of my old bed frame, it is a single piece ... So it was like you have a bed and at the end ( where your head is ), there was a big storage component with cupboards on top.

The old bed was already replaced long ago, left the storage portion, which I manually separated them. The problem with this storage thingie is you get a huge space beneath, like how you open a car boot but you get lots of space deep inside but due to the limited opening, once you put stuff inside, it was just too difficult to get it out. And anyway, I don't like it.


I always like most of the IKEA stuff, simple, unique and great in the designs. But pricing wise, it could be cheaper, but then with no similar comparision, it could be hard to say. In addition, it gives you the flexibility to mix and match. It came up to about $610 includes delivery and assembly. But there is one foreseen problem, it is damn heavy. shifting it will be a problem. Anyway, as of now, is good ! :)

假期时总希望能睡到饱, the sickening 电梯升级让人提升进入 IMH 的机会. 已经好几个礼拜都没听到敲敲打打, 钻钻垂垂的杂音了 .... 直到昨天 they are back !!! 幸好昨天都应该早起, 因为 IKEA 送货来. 嗨, 今早又被吵醒. Before 9 就 awake 了, 但还是很 sleepy, till about 10+ 不行了. 它的杂音很大声又不固定 ... 嗨 算了吧 我放弃了.

起来, On 了电脑, 看一看股市动态, 足球新闻, 读一读 work email. Then decided to ask a friend out for lunch, 决定去 Maxwell market. Lunch time 果然很多人, 不过要找两个位 to share 还不难. 在那边, 很长的人龙有三摊, 天天 chicken rice, 真真 congee and the fish soup. Decided to have the fish soup, worth the 10 mins queue, still as nice !

时间总觉得不够 .....

The Guard Post

It is a mixture of suspense and horror within mystery in a army setup. But the f*cking problem is how the movie is shot or edited, the whole show was mixed up with present and flash back, in short scenes all over. Initially, it seems to not bad as it tried to build up the mood and suspense but when even after 1 hour 30 mins, this method of presenting the plot kept going, it got abit irritating and sick.

Military investigator Jin was asked to go and check out GP 506 as something horrifying happened. The whole platoon was dead overnight and he got only till next morning to find out what happened. From he arrived till he realized the truth, there are some scenes which are not bad, more towards the horror and shock element.

As he discovered clues, scenes are flashed back. But at the end, you got a bit pissed because as the truth was out, you realized most of the flash back were there to either lengthen the movie or to lead you on. The camp commander was the son of the chief of army, when he found out that
something was wrong with his men, he failed to report to HQ but then things gone wrong. A contagious virus infection caused the men to become violent for a period of time, he will do anything ... Like tearing into a dog using your mouth, butt stroke your mate to death, Hammering your own hand using a spanner, etc.

Only 20 out of 21 bodies were found. The one left claimed to be the camp commander, refused to talk and was transported back to HQ but due to a road block, had no choice to return back. Jin found out in the end but I don't think that was crucial, it was soldier Kwang who killed them all so as to stop the virus spread, maybe also stopped their torture.

But then the platoon who came in initially to check, Jin and his assistant, the MO, all got infected. Jin realized he also had to kill them all. 6/10

Singapore Motorcar Show 2008

News came that this show will probably be the last as the wading crowd proved that probably it is true. Year on year as more and more cars started to avoid this avenue to get more sales on their cars. This year only honda, nissan and subaru were there. Nothing much that interesting to shout about, there was so much room that they could even do the stunt show in the exhibition area :)

The models that usually make heads turned during such shows were also abit disappointing, most are pretty but thought would have few that might be stunningly gorgeous. The highlight of this show probably will be the stunt show by the russ guy and his son. Though not out of this world but all stunts showed the technical ability and precise handling of the cars at top speed, quite entertaining.

Elite Squad

A brazilian production in portugese. It was like watching some hongkong police movie but with a slower and darker theme. Narration and quite a substantial amount of dialogue time dominate this show. Definitely not a main stream movie, but overall is quite okay.

The story revolved around Captain Nascimento, from the special ops police. He was arrowed to eliminate the drug dealers in a slum area near the area where the Pope will be visiting.

He felt this was something quite impossible as drug criminals and corrupted police worked hand in hand. And his pregnant wife also urged him to leave BOPE, so he began to choose his replacement.

Neto and Matia joined the military police force as honest men but found that it was so corrupt that commander in charge was also taking bribes.

Knewing they were righteous folks, they were assigned crappy job. Neto fixing unrepairable police cars because no good parts was ever available. Matia was arrowed to do paper work.

During his search for his replacement, entered a subplot, Matia studying part time and getting involved with a girl from a slum area which was infested with drug dealers. His job as a police was kept a secret to her, but when BOPE crashes the slum area a few times. Matia got on the papers in a wrong manner, they were at the wrong place at the right time.

From then, Nasci knew them and BOPE started a training stint for BOPE newbies. Few graduated, Neto and Matia were among them. Nasci chose Neto as his understudy though with some regrets as Neto was hot heated and was anytime top of the DOA list.

Anyway, he did die but when off duty. Baiano, a drug dealer killed him mistakingly for Matia. Thus, Nasci and Matia went all out to hunt him down, which they did. And he died a faceless death. 7/10

The House Bunny

Anne Faris of Scary Movies fame anchored this movie. Her stupidity and ignorance facial expression are so funny. And with the crafty wits, naughty innuendoes, stupid lines makes it a very enjoyable show with a simple story. She is Shelley, an orphan and has been living in the playboy mansion. Her dream was to be in the playboy centrefold but she was conned into believing the owner Hef wanted her to leave.

She left and stayed overnight in her car. Following day she stumbled into the house of Phi Iota Mu sorority, run by a bunch of self-centred, egoistic and snobbish students and mums. And knowing that what a sorority mum do was "similar" to what she do in playboy mansion, but of course the Phi Iota Mu won't need her. But then one of them told her, the Zeta house might need one as one just left.

Over at Zeta was a complete different story, they faced a deadline to recruit 30 members if not, their house will be taken back by the college. Initially, they rejected her as well but seeing her attracting lots of passing by guys stopping to look at her, they decided to let her try it out. I liked the part where she say she remembered names by saying them out in a "Darth Vader" voice, quite funny.

Each of the Zeta girls had their own unique way of utmost negative attractive energy around them, thus telling why their sorority was closing. Natalie the intellectual nerd who seemingly had the most boring ideas. Mona the one that got almost every part of her body pierced. Harmony the pregnant teenager. Joanne the one who still wore the "iron man" suit to protect her spine though she already recovered few years back. Mae the one that was as british tomboy. Lily the one who was so shy that she communicate through text.

During a nights out at a club, Mae's attempt to attract a guy was hilarous. "Hey Can you tell me where is the crapper ? I need to drop off some timbers". Shelley then told her she need to put in some mysterious elements. She went back. "Hey Can you tell me where is the crapper ? I need to do something mysterious". Then following up by whispering "I need to drop off some timbers"
Shelley's plan was to induce hotness into them. Changing them from being forgettable losers to hottest chicks in school. She taught them making up, using water bras, being sexy, showing cleavage. It was a huge success as their change attracted lots of attention. And coming out with their calender helped.

Shelley got her own little problem, sort of liking this guy she met. Oliver, who managed a nursing home. The way she put it that "'How nice of you to have a place for nurses to stay in" was totally simple ignorant fun. The mimic "Marilyn Monroe" scene was real funny as well. Her tricks didn't go well during their first date, telling him to kiss her and she had to go because she was so hot that she got other dates lining up.

Her second date was worse as she tried hard to be intellectual by studying, reading and cramping facts and figures up her head. She was in a mess as she fell here and there due to her nerdy specs causing her difficult to see. She went back unhappy but got a call from Hef, wanting her back and she will be centrefold for Nov, which she rejected.

Then she was even more sad when the girls blamed her for turning them into bimbos who started to criticise people whom they are recruiting by looking at their photos. Shelley left and back to Hef. But she found out being a centrefold wasn't what she want so she left midway during a shoot.

The girls found her and told her they were sorry for being bad to her. But Shelley got a difficult task up ahead as Phi Iota Mu's dirty trick cause all their new recruitments not to turn up. She managed to convince on-the-spot people to join Zeta during the so called whatever council meeting.

No more toilet humour, never ending puke and futt, and of course plain old meaingless spoofs. This was enjoyable. 8/10
