Year One

This movie though is slapstick kind but still sprung some surprises and have some really funny moments. Jack Black is Zed is a not so good hunter and his friend Oh is a gatherer. The starting scene was quite funny, Z hitting his own people with his spear on a hunting trip. Later, Z was caught eating the forbidden fruit. the tribe had to thrown him out. And he accidentally torched Oh's hut, so he followed him on his trip to find the end of the earth.

Along the way, they found brothers Cain and Abel. And witness Cain killed Abel by repeatedly stoning him to death, the slaptick way. But Cain still brought both back to his home, Z thought that was the luckiest day when his father told him he could sleep with his daugther but found out that she is a lesbian. Soon, Cain got Z and O to flee with him, if not, they will be blamed for his bro death.

They bumped into Maya and Eema, the girls both Z and O wanted to have in their tribe. They are captured and being sold as slaves. Cain ended up selling Z and O. But somehow during their trip, Sodomites attacked the slaves owners. Z and O managed to escape but doze off while they waited for a good time to save M and E.

So they continue their journey and saw Abraham trying to kill his son Issac, Z stopped him and told Abraham, Lord send him to stop him. So they brought Z and O back to their village, telling them the sin city of Sodom and Gomorrah. Next morning, they left after Abraham offered to circumsize them, quite a description. As they arrived at Sodom, they were captured and almost sodomized by the guard but was saved by Cain, telling he knew them.

While Cain show them around, the princess saw Z, seemingly think he is different as he didn't bow when she was there. Z and O joined the army so as not to being captured again. The part where they trying to join the first training was funny, as everyone was in line, standing in attention. They comically try to join them but in awkward positioning.

The king trying to get rain has been sacrificing virgins. The princess send for Z, wanted him to go into the Holy of Holies and asked whoever to help to get rain. Meanwhile, O was having a bad time with the high priest, getting him to oil his hairiest body. Both was found in the Holy of Holies and the King punished them to be stoned to death. But Z convinced them he is the chosen one and the public seems to believe, as the advisor trying hard with his hand motion to tell the King they should also go with the public reaction.

So Z and O was spared but was imprisoned. And somehow O was cuffed upside down and had to pee. So pee dripped all over his face. The King then mentioned he will sacrified the princess along with M and E. Of course, Z and O saved the day with some laughs. 8/10

Friday Dinner@Gulf Beach Restaurant

There is alot of stalls selling middle eastern food in the arab street area. This was our last option as the others are crowded. .

This one sells lebanese food. The menu is clear and straightforward. After some thinking, I settle for grilled boneless chicken with lebanese spices, there is a name for it, couldn't remember it.

And it was quite good, well grilled, the meat is succulent enough and the sauces that comes with are good.

The yellowish creamy sauce looked so much like hummus, the one you see in "Don't Mess with Zohan", but the waitress say is garlic sauce. The chilli is abit different with the usual ones we have, it is not savoury but just the right spiciness.

The lamb sausages are also quite nice but has certain spices in it. It comes with some vege like tomatoes and pepper but also drenched with some sauce which is quite sour. The highlight was the lebanese coffee, it tasted like double expresso with 甘草金银花. The guy should have recommended us to get the lenanese sweets with the coffee. You can see what was left the in bottom, a huge deposit in dung form.

Penang Day Four

Last day. The plan was to visit Kek Lok Si and check out before that. An early breakfast then wash up and final packing, then it was check out and pay up. We reached there about 9+ and our car was able to park just right outside of the foot of the temple. This whole place is made up of several temples, a pagoda and you can go right up to see the tallest guan yin in asia or the world, can't remember.

To go the top of the pagoda, you have to climb the spiral stairs about 7 storey, as it gets nearer to the top, the stairs gets steeper and steps narrower. Going down requires careful steps as well. Then is up the inclining lift to see the "in progress" guan yin. You can see pillars are being built around the statue. At this area, there is also another temple where you can see the 12 animals statues outside.

And not to forget, quite a number of souvenior shops along the way. We spend about 1 hr plus here and about time to leave for lunch then airport. Decided to head to queensbay mall to eat canton-i, there was one open in ION recently. Though it is along the way to the airport, we also horlan a few times before we got there. Supposedly the wanton noodles are good, the wanton are huge with generous fillings no doubt, soup is clear and typical wanton kind but lacks the typical MSG. The meat combinations is quite good, especially the char siew which is fatty. Soon we have to rush to the airport for our 1505 flight and of course, need to horlan but still in time to go Petronas to top up the car before return.

Reached airport about 2 pm only to know flight was delayed again. All delayed ends delayed. Anyway, delayed better than miss.

Penang Day Three

Day 3 started late so had the same buffet breakfast again. When we got ready, it was about 11+ .. 12. And we decided to drive across penang bridge to eat seafood near Butterworth, there is this 323 seafood place by the sea. Getting across the bridge was still okay but finding the place was quite a challenge, after numerous horlan and of course help from "bang" wil ... we finally reached !

Considered a late lunch. The seafood selection doesn't seems to be alot, anyway the typical ones were ordered, cereal prawns, fried squids, viet chicken, crab, vege and salted fish bee hoon. The only must mention is the bee hoon ... ermmmm ... yes the bee hoon. Fried till very mi and smooth yet savoury. The crab probably done in the wrong way, she mention something spicy but it taste more like L spices.

Time to head back to George town for the heritage walk. But truth is, somehow nothing much along the trail and simply is like we are the only ones. Maybe is Sunday, some places are closed. The fort wasn't open, not sure it shutdown or at that time already closed. Peranakan Mansion closed at 530 pm. Rest nothing much.

About evening time, no where to go so we head back to Gurney Plaza. And I found this Gelatomio ice cream cart in between the Gurney Plaza and G Hotel area, this was mention in some blog. I got the chocolate mashmarllow but somehow it taste spicy, I think is it something we ate during lunch that cause some reaction. Anyway, it was good, think it was RM 7.

Dinner was settled at Sushi King then head back hotel around 9+. Last day heading to Kek Lok Temple.

Penang - Day Two

I started day 2 with a very cold swim at the pool, located at the 7th flr. It is some kind of infinity pool overlooking gurney walk and the sea, not a full lap pool, despite the damn cold water still managed to go 10 over laps. Then it was wash up and breakie, spread was typical, too typical. The fried noodles and tom yum bee hoon are quite good, the rest are non-mentions.

Then we went off to Penang Hill, we did eventually get there. To get up to the viewing deck, you need to take a almost vertical tram. The elevation gets quite almost vertical when you close in. And you need to switch tram halfway, the way up is still alright, not too much people coming in. The tram is going up real slow the about 800+ m hill, no aircon, sometimes the fan don't work, if the weather is hot, I think it will be quite unbearable.

It was quite cooling up there and the view is not bad. Other than that, there is nothing much up there. The canopy walk is closed. You can walked up a flight of stairs then come to a L temple. Probably why we saw so many L, anyway we went down soon after. The way down is bad, alot of people and no control, like squeezing as much people in the cabins.

Lunch time. Heading towards the famous Penang Laksa near Kek Lok Si. Lucky we manage to find a parking, waited a while for the seats. 2.70 RM a bowl, nothing much in it but taste really good. Initially thought it will have some extreme taste, either too sour, too spicy or too pungent but it didn't. Worth the trip.

Then our plans to go to Kek Lok Si failed as a long jam towards the temple formed so we decided to head back hotel. But somehow, no power in our room. We called housekeeping to check. An L guy came after about 10+ mins but couldn't check because the power box is in the main toilet but tks is releasing "top 10 most toxic substance", coincidentally we watched this on discovery. Pity the guy need to go in and check, probably already kena brain haemorrhage.

He turned on the switch, power came back, he left. While we were resting on the sofa and watching TV, mr wil decided to go and contribute in other toilet. It was just that gum or that kind of "confirm must be you". It blackout again, somehow he mention he retreat at the last min. The problem with that toilet is if you close the door, without lights, it will be pitched black. He came out and while I go and switch back the power circuit. Power came back again.

We continue to rest on the sofa and watch TV. Then wil decided to contribute again since he retreated, as Mr "confirm must be you" goes in and use. It tripped again !!!
This time turning back the circuit didn't work. We have to call them again. This time L and senior L came, took a while for them troubleshoot, anyway it was fixed.

About time to head to Batu Ferringhi. This place is quite disappointing. To get there you need to negotiate a F1circuit with lots of bends, we did made it. We parked somewhere in the middle of the long stretch, attempts to find more good food didn't really materialize as we came unprepared. And we walked up rather than down, downwards seems to have a quite big hawker like eating place. Anyway, we settle for tse char. After dinner, it was stroll along the stretch of pasar malam but after a while it gets boring because the stalls simply duplicated along, selling pirated stuffs from bags, watches, DVDs, sunglasses, ties, cuff links and some souveniers.

Penang - Day One

Not a good start, the tiger flight was delayed due to late come in of the plane. It was supposed to be 1015 but became 1130, still okay. We arrived at Penang Airport around 1 pm, then went to get the rented Vios, took a while. After verifying the car, off we go. Plan was to go to Komtar first to get some penang info, we have 2 GPS software on hand, Sygic on my iPhone and Garmin on tks's nokia.

Since tks was the volunteered driver, wil try to get the garmin to plot the route, seems easy, was smooth till we make a wrong left turn into Jusco. So the garmin will say "re-calcuting", off we go again but still horlan a few times so we decided to check in hotel first. We sense something not right when wil keep saying we are 250 KM away. tks found out he may have chosen the wrong KOMTAR which is in JB, that explained .. kaoz .. why need 250 KM ? To verify against the garmin, I used my Sygic to plot as well. Finally, it seems we are on the right road, hitting Jalan Kelawi then Persiaran Gurney. The Gurney is along the coastal, seeming a 4 star 36 storey hotel.

Our room is 2902, a 2 bedroom suite at 340 RM per night. Checked in was smooth, gave the guy 5 RM who brought up the bags. Though 2 bedrooms, one is slightly bigger and with also a bigger bathroom. The living room has sofa and dining table. This area is good to hang around, rest and wait. The TV is crap, only 20" CRT but there is also one in one of the bedroom. There is also a small kitchen with a cabinet, sink, washing machine, fridge and cutleries.

We head out to Komtar around 3+. But horlan a few times again, so we settled for KFC along Jalan Hutton, housed in some old colonial like building. After food, to Komtar, the 3rd attempt. Traffic getting heavy and the trick in driving there is you must hiong with them but also with some controlled safety. The local drivers there rarely think twice, not to "merge" with you. Esp the motosikalist aka 闪电骑士, they drift like ESPN extreme sports and squeezed into the thinnest space. And also must mention, the roads has alot of y-junctions splits, the left lane merged as and when, driver rarely signal or horn, etc.

Anyway, we finally reached. Parked in some dark dungeon like carpark. Bad start continued as the 55th flr viewing deck has shutdown, together with the so called tourism office. Since there, we dropped by the neighbouring Pranglin Mall to get some food stuff. Then when we decide to head off to somewhere, the traffic turned real bad, jam and horning everywhere, so we just put back our stuff then take a walk along Jalan Macallister.

We went to search for Ghee Hiang, famous for its 马蹄酥 at 216 Macallister. It was quite a walk from where we parked, since we found it so we bought the stuff first. Drizzling still when we left and head back to our car. Traffic had ease so we head for dinner, at Gurney Walk Hawker. Drizzle had stopped when we reach there. It was quite crowded but still managed to get a seat. We had BBQ stingray, sotong, char kway teoh, oyster omelette and rojak. The sotong was good because it has some curry taste, made it savoury. So was the char kway teoh, dry type, no dark sauce but very good. The apom was also good, it is like ultra thin pancake wrap like a tube.

After food, drizzle came back so we head back to hotel.

Bruno

Similar like Borat. This is a slapstick comedy shot in documentary like movie. Of course, with all the added crude jokes and it cannot get any gay. It has a story but somehow are pieced together by short clips which some are meaningless and even at R21, one minute of "acrobatic gay sex" was cut.

Bruno, an down and out gay Austrian fashion reporter decide to go to America to become the most famous austrian superstar since Hilter. Lutz, his assistant's assistant who loved him came along. He attempts an acting career which failed but got a extra role, that didn't go well. Then he try to shoot a video which got badly criticised saying worse than cancer, one scene showing him dangling his penis around.

Then he flew to Jerusalam to interview a former mossad agent and a palestinian politician and confused between hummus and hamas. That didn't take off either, later in some talk show, he show the audience a black baby named OJ who he gotten in exchange with an IPOD. Back at the hotel, bruno and lutz woke up in some bondage equipment after a night of sex.

They walked out to the streets, in the same bondage position, only to be freed by police. Lutz left Bruno, after latter told him he doesn't love him.

Months later, bruno discovered all famous hollywood actors are straight. Thus, he went to seek help from 2 gay converter, though to no avail, he is determined. He got his own show now, as "Straight Dave", some form of body slamming, fighting shows. During of the live show, Lutz appeared and called him "faggot"

Then they started to make out in the middle of the stage, it went well for bruno at least. They got married and got OJ back, exchanged with a macbook pro. 6/10

Another cartoon turned movie and with tonnes of mayhem and chaos. Simply packed with action. Destro is the man behind MARS, Military Armament Research Syndicate, the main pa kia of the movie. He has the doctor, baroness, storm shadow and zartan helping him, so called they are Cobra. He developed some nanotechnology weapons that can destroy a city, like termites capable of eating through any substance. And he sold 4 warheads to NATO.

Duke and Ripcord from the US army were ordered to deliver the warheads but D had it planned, send Baroness to ambush them. Duke and his team simply no match for Cobra's attack. Duke recongnize B as her ex-fiance, then the GIJ came and saved them. The GIJ brought Duke and R back to their base and General Hawk explained who they are blah blah blah.

Duke and R want in to the team so to know what happen to B. As they got familiar with the operations, training, weapones and tests. D send SS and B over to get the warheads and they did successfully. B got them weaponize and they head for Paris, planned to bring down the Eiffel Tower.

The GIJ tracked them and follow suit. Then what ensue was quite a mayhem chasing scene, sending adrenaline quite high. The GIJ didn't manage to stop B to launch the missle but Duke manage to hit the kill switch, thus terminating the damage. Doing so, he got captured and went back to MARS base with SS and B. The Doctor seeing Duke, wanted to experiment on him and revealing who he was, actually was B's brother whom everyone though was dead. B couldn't see Duke dead, saved him but the doctor almost killed his own sister. Duke managed to save B. Meanwhile the GIJ arrvied but was too late as D launched 3 missiles. Snakes Eyes managed to intersect one while R give chase to the other 2 targetting Russia and Washington in some plane.

With the missle aiming at DC, the president was ushered into some bunker which someone appeared and killed the 2 bodyguards. Back at the MARS HQ, SE took care of SS, to avenge for his master. Eventually, R terminate the missles and Duke brought B to safety. The doctor dragging the injured D into some submarine then injected something into him. Then wear some mask on his own face ... and that he became the "Cobra Commander", paving way for the Sequel. 7/10

Sunday Desserts@1 Caramel

This new Patisserie outlet at the Luxe, just beside beside the billy bombers at the cathay. It is not big, inside can seats about 10-15 and some al fresco seats. In a huge glass display, you see all the cakes that you get to eat. So many to choose from on the cakes menu, they have other desserts and food items as well.

The waitress recommended this when I browse the glass display, Chocolate Berry Lust, their best seller. Took her advice though there are a few other items so tempting as well, like red velvet, peanut butter cheese cream tart, chocolate fudge cake, etc.
The CBL is a tart, not a cake, like the one at the Chocolate shop at robertson quay, can't remember the name. Difference is this one tops with different type of berries.
And that difference is good. The chocolate in between the tart and berries has the right sweetness and thick but if had some bitter taste, could been better. Overall, this is a killer tart.




This scouffle is salty, something different and quite good. Baked till so soft inside and with the Yuzu ice cream, the combination is quite awesome.

Sunday Dinner@Etna

This italian restaurant at upper east coast road have not bad reviews on hungrygowhere. Since italian, pastas and pizzas are the mains. The caesar salad is good but ex at $16. Crisp lettuce with lots of bacon shreads and ultra cripsy croutons. And also the huge thin pieces cheese on top of it, all together .. it is good.

The linguine with scallops in pink lobster sauce taste okay ... not bad ... but nothing to hooha about. The sauce is thick kind and don't really can taste any lobster. The must mention are the huge scallops, fresh and juicy. The squid ink pasta is abit 有色无声, the color is black but doesn't have any squid taste.

UP

UP is a fun and hilarous adventure. Though the 3D glasses over my own specs is not really that comfortable, the 3D effects did do some compensations. It gave you more depth horizontally and experience wise quite interesting. They should have make the glasses like those welding ones.

Carl is an cranky old man who share the same dream as his deceased wife Ellie, making a trip to Paradise Fall, somewhere in South America. The movie has scenes when Carl and Ellie met when they are young. Carl is shy while Ellie is outgoing and abit wierd but both liked famed explorer, Charles Muntz. They got married, makes a living and grew old but she died. He missed her while staying by himself as the City became more developed. He got into a scuffle with a developer staff which then gotten a court order for him to sell the house to them.

Being a toy balloon maker, he decided to use 10,000 helium balloons to hoist the house up and fly to South America to fulfil their dream. Such a movie you need a livewire, Russell the kiddo wilderness explorer looking for his last badge "Assist the Elderly". Apparently, R was on the house when it was been hoisted up. C had no choice but let him in but the house met a storm and somehow R manage to steer the house to SA using his GPS. Then the real adventure starts, they met a colour bird which R called it Kevin. And C also bumped into CM which he initially thought what fortunate he was to meet his idol.

But CM being accused long time back what he brought back was fake, is determined to prove the society wrong. Now he killed everything he sees and even has a exhibit area in his blimp. C knowingly this and also CM is after Kevin, sense it is not right, managed to escape with Dug, one of CM's dog who talks using a translator on its collar. Kevin is out to get food for her babies and is addicted to R's chocolate. C and R manage to get K back but CM came in time and capture K. C wanted to save K but CM set his house on fire, C have to save the house thus letting CM took away K.

C put out the fire and finally steer the house to Paradise fall. But R decided to save K by himself, C upon reaching there, read Ellie's "My Adventure Book", the last page asking C to let himself go for an adventure, that drive him to go and save C and K. 8/10

Friday Dinner@Restoran SPOA

To get to this damn place took us 4 hours, at least for me coz I was picked up first. This seafood eating place is far but won't take 4 hours ...

but bad traffic and continous horlan. And of course how the K*s do up their roads and signs definitely aid in that.

How beautiful can it get ? You get 6,452,567,153 road names in a single sign so when you drive towards a direction ... we get a chance to analyze and try out another 5,726,167,333 permutations to other places.

And must mention are those f* tress with dangling branches and hairy potter leaves which nicely blocked the signs to increase the level of the identifying to turn left, go straight, go up the ramp, turn right or just stopped and think. Don't underestimate how the K*s thinks.

To get to here, one had to head towards Kota Tinggi. Then correctly divert to route 17 heading towards Pasir Gudang, this route is quite long, should take you at least 20 mins. Then you have to turn right into this Puteri Golf Resort, there is some post after you turn in. Then you have to drive along outside of this resort, all the way in till you start to realize you are at the entrance of some forestation/jungle/plantation whatever you want to call it. Follow the sign board ... "Restoran of the don't know what Orang Asli", after that is all 4WD road ahead, about 5 mins then you will get there, opens till 1130 pm. Think we got there about 1040 pm.

About time to eat somthing, you choose from their tanks of seafood. After the guy mumble out the items and how they can be cooked ... and not all we can understand. We decided ... 港式石班, 胡椒螃蟹, 马来风光, 麦片海虾, 辣椒大头, 银鱼炒饭.


The kangkong is abit different from the usual ones. It has a soury taste, it could be assam/lime/lemon that was added. This difference quite good, makes you want to have more. Should have order a bigger one.


We wanted to try to huge cockles they have and the uncle recommended to eat it some style close to raw or something. Any logical thinking is better not, it will increase the chances of LS on the way back. The tua tou is normal, nothing to brag about. But if you want shell items, definitely can order.


The picture doesn't really makes you think the crab is good. Maybe the below one will. The pepper style is just right the right dryness and sauciness. And the sauce gives you a quite strong peppery after taste, just the right oohm. Just hope the crabs can be bigger but fresh enough.


The problem with the prawns are simply too much. I ate 10 over myself, they are medium size and it doesn't look that crispy but when you bite through it, you can just drop the whole thing in your mouth. Dip into their balajiam chili which just has the right kick, not too spicy, makes it even better.

It was like some 天涯海角 away meal, view wise nothing much. Being some kind of fishing village, feels relaxed and also maybe we are the only one there eating and with the breeze blowing, makes you want to stay here and get away from those daily things you do which sometimes you feel simply helpless. The bill was $231 K*$ ... very cheap considered Singapore standard. Take away the drinks, it was only $200, about $80 SGD for 4 pax.

Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince

This movie need some oil from my face, so dry and was trying so hard to keep awake. How could it have break the dark night 3 day record ? Probably only hard core potter fans will like, or the director couldn't instill more excitement. I think I didn't watch the first 2 and could never remember the characters and terms the movie use ... except potter, not because I like him but it is the name of the book and movie, quite difficult to forget.

Can't remember there is any scene which will up your adrenaline. They are older now so elements of BGR takes up a portion of the movie. Harry was persuaded back to Hogwarts by Dumbledore and got Horace back to teach Potions. Also getting Harry to be under him. As death eaters tear through muggles and london, Snape took a unbreakable "SoomPa" with Draco's mother. Not sure who this draco guy is, supposedly working with Voldermort, he was asked to do something. So snape vowed to protect him.

During potion lesson, harry found a book which helped during the potion making task, the book was written by "half blood" prince which nobody knows who. Ron became the goalie of the team, where the game they play flying around and trying to score goals by hitting a ball like object through a ring. This attracted a girl, lavender brown who is head over heels about Ron, that of course incurred the wrath of Hermione. Harry on the other hand was jealous of Ginny close interactions with Dean.

Back to the dark part, Dumbledore wanted Harry to get close to Horace and get him to reveal long time back when he taught Tom Riddle aka Voldermort, he did mention to him about learning one dark art. Dumbledore believed that could be the key in defeating him. Meanwhile Draco is doing things, attempted twice to kill Dumbledore but failed. One with a cursed necklace and the other poisoned wine. Harry aware from the beginning as he saw Draco before doing some ritual with the death eaters.

After the 2nd attempt, harry confronted draco killing him in the process with "Sectumsempra" curse from the "half blood" prince book. Snape came in time and heal draco. Dumbledore revealed to harry in Tom's dream, there is mention of Horcruxes, some device that will make his soul immortal. And 2 of the rings harry's mother have were part of the 7 Horcruxes. He discovered another Horcruxes and teleport with harry to some cave and inside there, they drank something so that they can see the Horcruxes, which is a pendant. Then they were attacked by numerous zombie like creatures, inferi.

Dumbledore recovered and burnt them to nothing. As they return back to the tower, he ask harry to go get snape, before that happens. Snape appeared with other death eater, he cast Avada Kedavra, a killing curse at Dumbledore which is still weak. He fell out of the window and died. As the school still trying to recover from dumbledore death, harry found that the pendant is fake, only leaving a note, signaturing R.A.B. 6/10

Friday Dinner@Taman Sri Tebrau

Now it seems possible that to drive across to JB on friday evening. After you passed Woodlands custom, it is faster at the JB end, surprisingly. As usual, the woodland guy will read out your name then you acknowledge but this round ... that guy paused for a while after going through all our passport, then say in a slow, monotonous voice ... "Welcome to the 1976 club". We know what he meant but not sure whether to laugh or just ignore, probably he is just too sian after reading out 5,251,757 names.

It took a while before we got to the tebrau area as we horlan, seems the map didn't work out to be like the road names, we took the wrong road heading towards KL but we manage to find the way there. Of course the beauty of KTsia roads are, some or most road signs are either at the road entrance or just before that ... so is either you must know which road or you are tokyo drift or hamilton. And the romantically litted roads don't help at all.

Think we reached about 830++, about time for a late dinner. The tze char stall just right in front but at these places, don't expect any things will look "clean". Of course the food are much cheaper because of the exchange rate. We ordered 牛油虾婆, 麦片虾, 清炒凯兰, 干烧伊面. The crayfish is quite good, dry type, deep fried. It comes with alot of cripsy cripsy stuff, like they will crystalize, savoury and sweet. The crayfish meat don't have much taste but fresh and soft enough. The noodles are worthy mention also, like 炒香港面. Dry but wet enough so it is smooth and with enough ingredients. The prawns are not that fantastic.

Malls are closed so found this cafe and the white coffee really good. Very creamy and with a chocolatey taste. The boston cheese cake which is quite good but if cheesy enough could be better. It even has live music singing chinese pop but somehow the crowd doesn't seems to be here for the singing.

Ice Age : Dawn of the Dinosaurs

Ellie, Manny, Sid and Diego are back. E and M are expecting their first child and M is really excited, built a playground for the impending bb. D felt he is losing his predatory instinct thus wants to leave the herd. Sid even better, seeing E and M's happiness, also wants to be a parent. He wondered into some cave, he found 3 eggs and brought them back.

M sensing something not right, told S to return them. Of course, he won't, so called still enjoying this new found parenthood. It gets better, after he woke up ... the way this sloth zzzz ... really like "SaMe", maybe can seek some $$$ from Fox, that they copied him.

Back to the movie, the eggs hatched into 3 dino ... quite cute, start calling S as Mummy. He is thrilled but it didn't go well. Their born rambunctious behaviour doesn't fit into their herd.

They reck the playground and M was really pissed. S still refuse to return them but no need for that since Momma, a Tyrannosarus came for them, she took S with her too.

Knowing S got taken away, E and M and the 2 stooges crash and eddie follow as well. They provided numerous crap dialogues and comical moments. To their surprise, they found a land of dinosaurs, living below them. D followed them and saved them from a Ankylosaurus but to no avail as more dino are around. Then they met Buck, a possum, living below for a long time.

As they told him they are going to save S, B eventually agreed to guide them to save S. They have to go to the Lava Falls but have to thread through Chasm of Death and the Plates of Woe. It was fun and with close call moments. Not to forget the funny ones, the scene where they got stucked in the middle some "cable car" ride indiana jones style ... as they breath in some helium with laughing effect.

S is doing well with Momma and her dino but there is another dino, Rudy, a Suchomimus who everyone is afraid of. He attacked them, leaving S floating towards Lava fall. The gang came through but E went into labour, B and 2 stooges went ahead to save S, while M and D stay behind to protect E. It ended well and seems a 4th instalment Ice Age Th4w is on the cards. 7/10

Transformers : Revenge of the Fallen

Life gave the movie 1/2 a star, out of 5 stars. Not among the best but definitely worth watching in the cinema. Probably the guy only likes smurfs, my little pony or care bear. The movie continue 2 years after the prequel ended, Optimus leading his autobots in stopping the decepticons as usual but now working with the humans, in a team called NEST. There are some new autobots, Arcee, she transformed into 3 motorcycles, SideSwipe, a chervolet corvette which skids around as wheels are his feets, and Jolt, another chervolet. Of course, there is also the twins, the 2 stooges who hang around to provide comedic moments.

In a mission in Shanghai, NEST found out that Fallen is coming. This leads back in time where it was told that the transformers came to earth before, the primes as they called themselves created a sun harvester, something that convert energon then to power Cybertron's AllSpark. But the agreement was to only take energon sources from planets without life, but one bastard prime disagreed, as he bastard the rest of the prime, he was known as the fallen. To protect it from the fallen, the other primes hide some key known as matrix of leadership using their own bodies.

Sam preparing for his college had to leave bumblebee and gf Mikaela behind. She is even hotter than before, somehow. Anyway, as he packed, he contacted a piece of the AllSpark splinter into the kitchen, this caused all the applicances to transform and rollout. It caused some mayhem before bumblebee came out of the garage and stopped them. S gave the splinter to M before leaving. This also filled this mind with some cybertronian symbols, like telling him something.

S reached college and met his roommate Leo who runs a alien conspiracy website. And also Alice who kept advancing on S, she is hot too but M still better. Meanwhile, decepticon sends a remote control wheelie to try to steal the spark from M, this one abit crap and got captured by M. S called M, telling her that his mind like going crazy with symbols filling it. M with wheelie flew over to meet S.

Decepticon Soundwave, now not only playback casette tape. It is in space tapping into US satelite and listening into NEST conversations. That allowed him to know where they hid Megatron and location of the other AllSpark. He sends some doggie transformer to retrieve the spark and used it to resurrect Megatron. With Fallen back, Megatron is only a ka kia. He kena arrowed to capture Sam, so that can remove his brains and know the symbols.

M reached and as she came into S room. Alice was in bed with S, she saw and left but came back when she heard commotion. Alice was a decepticon pretender. S, M and L escaped, Alice gave chase but eventually was crashed to death by M's car. Grindor the decepticon heli gave chase and caught S M L. They were brought to some warehouse, as decepticons prepare to remove S brain, Optimus and bumblebee arrived. Thus, S M L managed to escape again, but Optimus was killed by Megatron.

With O's death, Mega ordered a full scale assault on earth, as Fallen speaks to the world, demanding them to handover S. L told S that some online guy Robo Warrior maybe able to help to decipher the symbols. They found him and was the guy from the prequel, agent Simmon. He advice they should go to Simthsonian Museum and find JetFire, an old time transformer who was here way back in time. They found him and resurrect him with the AllSpark, only to find he is a decepticon, after he transformed, trying to recollect what happened, sort of agree to help them. Somehow he teleported everyone to Egypt, telling them you can find the matrix here.

S did find the matrix but it turned into dust but he believed it will still be able to save O. He told Simmons to phone Major William to fly O and autobots to Egypt. They arrived so did the decepticons. As S M L tried to reach Major William, the decepticons need to destroy O's body first. It was quite a battle mayhem before S M L reached the military area but Mega killed Sam in a chaotic carpet bombing sequence. Lying still, in a flash, he saw the Primes, telling him matrix needs to be earned and he did it. M crying and telling him she loved him, along the movie, they playing the game of who should tell who love who first.

Decepticon already have know where the sun harvester, ordered Constructicons to form. This one very different from the one what we seen in cartoons. As devastator try to climb the pyramid and tear down the top, Simmons followed and radio some USSS captain, asked to use some classified weapon to shoot down devastator, after some TCSS, he believed him and shot down D.

S woke and matrix formed into shape. He resurrect O with that but Mega snatched it and as he flew over to the pyramid with Fallen. They powered the sun harvester. O without the spark seems weak but JetFire who flew by a while back, gave up his power and parts to O. In a split second, Ironhide and some autobot enhanced O. He flew to the pyramid and destroyed the sun harvester. Then he took on Fallen and Mega, they fell back to the ground. Fallen is no fight with the enhanced O, O killed him as he teared through Fallen. Mega and Starscream sat back and watched ... retreated for Transformer 3. 7/10

Friday Dinner@Ebisboshi Shotengai

4th floor@Iluma is a floor full of restaurants and most of them you don't see it anywhere in Singapore. I like this area coz it has high ceiling so gives you a feeling of spaciousness.

You get empire state, marble slab creamery, cheeky chocolates, manhattan fish market, Ebisboshi Shotengai, Hua Li Xuan, asian kitchen, empire noodles, thai express etc. Jap was the choice, even the Ebisboshi Shotengai has 3 separate eating area.

One is Tsubohachi, second is the maid cafe tora shabu, third is a combination of menya manpei, teppan no honshi, katsuya and sweet brothers. We went to the 3rd one because I felt like having ramen, menya manpei served them.

The setting was abit dark and of course, the interesting thing about Ebisboshi Shotengai is you take your own orders with a talking pen.

The menu has some tag on each item, so tapping the pen on the item, means selecting it ... then you follow by selecting quantity. So you repeat this, till you finish and "send" the order by tapping on "Send" on the menu with the pen. The teppanyaki items are good, the squid though quantity not alot, but is savoury and just the right chew is enough. The teppan bamboo clam just as good, very tender and with the right amount of garlic. At $8.90 each, still consider reasonable but can be cheaper.



The charsiew ramen is also not bad. Soup base doesn't seem got anything speical but still tasty, the ramen are abit thick and chewy. And the charsiew are the thickest i ever had in a ramen, 4 pieces, just enough.



The desserts are from Cheeky Chocolates, at the same 4th flr area. The cheeky chocolate crepes, at $7.90 considered good. It is like a cheaper version of the ones at Canele, you don't get the fancy condiments. Just crepes, a strawberry, chocolate ice cream, whip cream, the 2 huge crepes are chocolate flavoured, must mention is the ice cream, gives you not only choclate taste, something else in it. The warm choclate cake, also at $7.90, at this price, very good. Outside is soft and crisp with the oozing chocolate flowing out, the sour blueberry can take away some of the chocolatey taste if you want. The vanilla bean ice cream is as good.

Wednesday Dinner@Say Cheeze

Not sure if this outlet is related to the Say Cheezecake located at Great World. They famous for their cheese cakes ? if not why name it. I think they are the same.

They are like Swensen but with more innovative items, more cakes, less ice creams.

Couldn't resist ordering laksa chowder but got a normal main course, some chicken cordon bleu.

And the waitress did try to get us order their cheese cakes which she failed.

The chowder is not bad but somehow just don't have the flavour that will captivate you. Is just like any chowder but with laksa taste, you get some seafood in it. Good for first try.

The chicken cordon bleu simply CMI. It suppose to have some ham wrapped in it and oozing cheese. The ham is tiny and don't really can see or taste the cheese. The breaded skin and chicken easily comes off, some portion abit tough. To make it worse, the side dishes didn't help. The coleslaw not saucy enough and not cold enough. The macroni cheese ... like someone dropped some rubber band into a bowl of cheese. Hope their cheesecake is good, if got chance to come back.
