Singapore School of Deaf

What was the teacher thinking when she ask the students to slap each other ? Even asking them to slap harder ?

Siao Bo ?!!?!?!?

Not a form of punishment to me, more of an insult.

Moreover, the teacher was not abit repentant when asked about her action. Don't she have children ? Not sure whether she has or not ? Nonetheless, being a teacher at physically handicapped institution, I would have thought extra care and love will be needed to be shower on the children there, though the teacher might have been really pissed off about what the children did.

Sometimes you wonder why something was done this way or that way.

She should watched "Art of the Devil 2".

宝贝计划

Always a fan of Jackie Chan's brand of action comedy in a HK production, though it has not been producing at a more frequent rate as before. Everything was well within expectation, though action was subdued with the element of comedy increased. The storyline was predictable with Jackie as 人字拖 and Louis as 百达通 are modern day thieves who steal stuff to earn a living. And with their friend, Michael Hui as 包租公 who taught them how to pick locks and open safe.

Though thieves, they don't do 奸淫掳掠 and 伤天害理的事. But when 包租公's house got robbed and his 3 million cash was gone, he got another deal this time round but going against their motto. Because of the intially agreed money of 7 million they would get out of this deal, 人字拖 and 百达通 agreed without knowing what they are stealing, also because 人字拖 and 百达通 are under debts from 烂赌 and lavishingly 泡妞 respectively.

Much of the movie was trying to take care of the baby while 包租公 was in jail. Hilarous moments here and there when 人字拖 and 百达通 tried their hands to take care of the BB. And became their Daddy and Mummy in the event. After days with the BB, both of them became attached to him and was very unwilling to hand him over. Thus, action came in when the bad guys are after the baby and 元彪 as 莫史迪 police inspector starts to investigate the kidnapped BB.

The best action comedy sequence was in the house of 高圆圆 as Melody, she was the nurse who was teaching them how to take care of the BB. When all parties just came in comical timing to the house and finally action broke out when they found out the BB was taken away by the bad guys. Fighting in confined area, fighting using objects, car chase, comical action all came along.

A happy ending needed for such movies to appeal to the public. The moment of the movie is when 人字拖 uses himself as a human defibrillator trying to revive the BB who was locked in the room under freezing temperatures.

Forget to mention about the cameo appearances by Nicholas Tse and Daniel Wu as a pair of "brokeback mountain" security truck drivers !!!!! Hahahahaha !!!!

A entertaining movie. 8/10.

Fri Dinner@TCC

TCC has been mutating at a fast and furious rate island wide since its first cafe in 2003. ITt has 20 outlets now at very strategic locations. Seems like a very well received cafe and food joint among other similar type of food/chill out joints. Personally, I feel that it is quite a nice place with its menu of drinks/food/desserts.

The chilli beef soup is a very good item to start, gives you the spicy kick !! But too bad, they don't have it yesterday :( I had the Mongolian Chicken Chop, not sure why was it mongolian ? But it was well grilled and drenched with coconut curry sauce, basically is some kind of thai green curry sauce. Comes with wedges and some greens, the sauce and the chop goes quite well together.

The crusty curry chicken pattie looks nice as well. Its curry smell really catches your attention by the nose !!!

I tried the azuki coffee cooler before and liked it. The red beans sunk to the bottom of the glass was really nice, full of red bean taste *Kei Kan*. And blends in well with the coffee. This time round, I had the Devil's Chocolate Cake. Basically, split into 2 layers, chocolate on top and cake below. The chocolate was smooth, but could have been abit thicker. But it was this drink, Chocolate Affagatto that win the day. It is half a cup of expresso with chocolate ice cream in it, whipped cream on top and chocolate chips all over. A blend of hot and cold !!! But is goes very well together.

ICT

Finally, the time of the year where you have digged out everything which is green in my house and donned in green. In addition, the getaway gives get free accomodation, 3 meals ( freeflow ) and medical attention. You get superb view of greenery and close encounter with the nature. Boredom and "Sianness" are the 2 main elements of this 14 days 13 night luxourious tour.

Basically, IQ will fall by 9,341,561,613,678,133% when one is in green *Somehow*. For the past 6 ICT, they have always though I was a driver despite numerous updates that I am not. This time round, looks okay till now, but who knows ? I may get called to draw vehicle during my first day again.

The location being in some obscure corner of Singapore, makes it a even more wonderful trip. With the need to carry 大包小包 and arriving at the destination at 7 am ( Think even the rooster is still "kooning" ).

Me living in the east, a ride with Mr Cabbie is inevitable. And an advanced booking is encourage to avoid any "suayness" that might fall upon me on that morning.

I still can remember in one of the ICTs *Can't remember which year*, I was trying to call a cab outside this "7 stars resort", upon telling the road name and knowing that I was outside a "7 stars resort", the operator insist on asking me "Is there any prominent buildings around ?". I really feel like telling her "Yeah, it is beside Takashimaya" *Head Bang Wall*.

Nowadays, training program is available online for download prior to the ICT. But somehow jargons filled the whole excel and somehow defeats the purpose of giving us a heads up of what is going to happen. *Is like telling Tuesday morning, you will be doing ACQGQT then afternoon testing on BHSAQVZAQ, Wednesday we will will do MOLAXAQXZS with Alpha, Bravo and Charile.* Some meaningful descriptions is appreciated !!!

But at least some items are understandable, like IPPT ( Heng, this one I siam ), cohesion march ? *Sratch Head* Did it last year, basically is a walk in your SBO, helmet and rifle, and as the name implies, some form cohesion will emerge after the march.

Patriotism up 455% !
Co-operation up 234% !
Love SAF up 642% !

Anyway, is what I "own"" them", 欠的就要还 ! Somehow, 13 days is like 13 decades inside.

Missing

Saw this notice outside LK at upper thomson, quite a detailed description of how missing was taken away at AMK with timing and exact place !!! How could missing be at AMK ? Only if the owner was with missing at AMK, but then how could missing be taken away so quietly without the owner being noticed ? Hmmmmmm ..... And why put up the notice at upper thomson when missing was kena "David Copperfield" away at AMK ?

Anyway, though never denied that missing was Man's best friend, but quite a dramatic
description of how without missing around, the owner was definitely emotionally not
well, maybe close to hysterical. *Touch Wood*, wonder what would happen if someone really close to the owner would have gone missing.

Nonetheless, hope that missing will be reunited with the owners :)

Miami Vice

Dozed off here and there during the 80% talk and 20% action movie, never really watch the tv series version of Miami Vice. But it was within my expectation on how the movie will go, maybe just that it was a late night show, the middle portion was just abit dry. Gong Li's role as Isabella, a chinese cubain business woman was one of the highlight of the movie, but can see that she is aging.

Some Fed agents got killed because of leak information in an undercovered mission. Then an informant's family got killed. So Crockett, played by Colin Farrell and Tubbs, played by Jamie Foxx went undercover deep into Montoya's ring of drug trafficking. Then Crockett romance Isabella, though NC 16, some scenes got cut, and one got cut abruptly.

The movie seems dark to me, maybe of the slow motion and dialogue heavy elements. Anyway, a happy ending, but Montoya got away, most probably because of Miami Vice 2.

Moment of the movie
The kidnapper who was holding to a switch that will detonate a bomb around Trudy's neck told Tubbs and gang, he will press the button if they shoot.

But Gina told him, her "Pow Wow Whatever Gun" will be travelling at a speed so fast that it will shoot through his head that his brain will have no chance to tell his hand to press the button.

And Indeed, he didn't have a chance to reply and "Boom" ... Down he went.

6/10 for MV

Another way to start Monday

Gloomy monday with a gloomy sky, started pouring when I reached downstairs and have no choice but to go up and grab an umbrella. The bus came in a short while and not much people, considering morning rush hour. Smooth ride till the interchange, but there are buses queuing for passengers to alight. It was a heavy drizzle so usually the bus driver will stopped at the sheltered area to allow passenger to alight, but somehow there is this bus which took longer than usual. And somehow people were already standing up crowding the entrance to get ready to zoom out.

Then came ...........

A voice at a pitch comparable to opera singing ........

"Why so long don't open the door ?"
*And some words which I did not catch properly*
"You want me to call police is it ?"

The bus driver LL, opened the door, but people will need to walk 2 or 3 metres to the sheltered area.

*Sigh*
Pity the bus driver .... kena "slam" for nothing
Why is that wait worth the ranting ? Sing ka por lian lor .... like that wan lah

Not sure if that woman is in hurry but if you are in a hurry, jolly well be prepared to plan and buffer in time to get to your damn place.

Food for thoughts

Friday's dinner was at 天天火锅, and this jug of 菊花 is definitely worth a mention, every sip or gulp you take just gives you the "Ohm". Somehow, ignore that it was really sweet, some "special" 菊花 might have given it the "Ohm" factor.

Need something to perk you up ? Just look at the picture, though not the 正宗麻辣 broth from china, this one definitely gives us some kick. Every slice of meat you cook in it becomes a 麻辣 version of the meat, which gives you a spicy and choking taste. Anyway, no one dares to drink the soup as most probably will end up at Raffles Hospital A&E which is nearby.

The "Liquid Kitchen Signature Chocolate Cake", at $7.50 a piece, touted that it used french chocolate, which I think we won't be able to differentiate where it comes from. But the mousse like texture makes it melt in the mouth, and there is a tingle of alcohol taste with every bite.

Care for a $3 "Milo Lychee Dinosaur" ? Wonder what was the lychee doing in there ? Hmmmmmmmm :) Anyway, the picture says it all.

The Great Malaysia Sale

A friend introduced yet another hilarious podcasting production from the island favourite mr brown, this time about the method used by our neighbouring country to encourage Singaporean to pay up their traffic fines.

After listening to it, definitely worth a mention.

IPODs - Second Generation

Apple annouced some new IPODs, new shuffle, new nano, 6th generation 30GB IPOD. The new shuffle and nano caught my eye. My 1 yr+ old 1 GB shuffle is still surviving, the new IPODs now come in anodized aluminium body, replacing the "100% anti-scratch-proof poly carbonate" body.

The new shuffle, still screenless, should be the smallest and lightest iconic mp3 player in the world, measuring at 4.1 x 2.7 x 1 cm and at only 15.6 g. Other than the new aluminium body, the other evident change is charging the player nows needs a docking station.

In addition, the player is designed with a clip which you are "suppose" to clip it onto something. This is the definite player for those who do not have frequent intention to find a specific song to listen to.

In addition, the 1GB is priced at $138, compared to the 1 GB first generation shuffle which sells for $268 initially, this is a steal.

Yet to see the actual thing, Available in Oct. The clip thingie doesn't appeal to me though. If they do accept my shuffle as trade in, maybe can consider :)

On the other hand, the new NANO comes in 5 colours, silver pink green blue and black. Longer battery life, brighter screen, new headphones, gapless playback of audio. Hmmmm, interesting to know how this gapless playback is. Comes in 2GB, 4GB and 8 GB model at $248, $348 and $428.

Singaporean drivers like to horn

Was queuing for cab during lunch at the parkway parade taxi stand, out of sudden long stretches of horn sounds kept coming, continous, doesn't sound like a horning to warn others. Then a look across the taxi stand, 2 cars slowing down beside each other, pressing their horn at each other as if they need alert about some life and death actions.

If there is a chance for them to stop, confirm they will come down and "road rage". Haiya, missed out on a good show. The cars must have agitated each other before the junction and somehow so "buay ke gian" till they need to slow down traffic behind them so as to start a horning competition between them.

Though they will really stopped in the middle of the road and come down with base ball bat or parang ... but didn leh :)

What a way to start Monday

Less than 10 metres away from the bus stop, I signalled to the bus driver to wait for me, he did. But as I attempt to dash to the bus, I stopped less than 5 metres away, started to walk fast instead. Then he looked at me from the main window, tapping his watch, when I board the bus, the NBCB driver gave me the "hin" look !!!!!!!! NB ! I "hin" him back !!! And he got that ultimate Mark Lee cum "Si San Bin" somemore !!!

WTF ?!?!?!?!?!??! The 3 seconds wait for me because I was not running like Asafa Powell to his bus ???? Anyway, more people boarded after me. Hordes of people waiting for SBS buses in terms of several minutes daily, if you are unlucky, you wait for more than 10 minutes.

He would have come down his bus and piggy me back up if I am a IMF delegate ??!?!?!! Or he may have started late on that bus trip ?!?!?!?

SaMe need to "teh" him

夜宴

冯小刚's attempt at some kind of epic drama with elements of Hamlet but in Chinese. With 章子怡 leading the cast, and several scenes with her almost wearing nothing, a NC 16 rating because of some violent scenes but the plot just was not able to live up the whole movie.

It was almost ultimate slow-mo for most of the movie and without any twists or catalyst, became a torture to want the ending to come soon. Definitely not an action packed movie, more of a love story where childhood lovers Daniel Wu as 无挛 and 婉儿 became mother and stepson, but with 无挛's father killed by his brother which usrup this throne in the process and of course came with a big fat bonus, also took his wife also. With 江山与美人 by 厉帝's side, what more can he ask for ? Of course to kill 无挛 but then 自古英雄难过美人关, 婉儿 went all out to protect her lover.

How many wishes to be in Daniel Wu position in the picture ?
And quite a number of Ms 陪 and Ms 小 and their friends' friends were in the cinema, somehow got a feeling we are being overwhelmed in our 4.3 million population ... Hee.

Okay, back to the movie, with a "Long Zhong" Si Ka liao ending, not happy indeed. Even 厉帝 succumb to 婉儿's wish to poision him.

"世上最毒地, 哪是鹤顶红加黑蝎子, 最毒的终究是人心"

Moment of the movie :
When 厉帝 attempt to put his hand into 婉儿's blouse, maybe 婉儿's 肚兜 is more appropriate, and of course she allows him, so as to win his trust and to protect his lover.

Another worth mention, General 殷隼 was "chined" to death by 婉儿 swift and deadly sword as its strike through across his chin.

6/10 for this movie.

Fri Dinner@Phim Steakhouse

Had dinner there last night, not a purposely visit. Walking by and it had seats so just pop in. Been there a few times, I would say above average for a western food restaurant and surviving still. Set dinner caught our eye, so decision was easy. Had Parmesan Portello with Sirloin Strip though I don't really like mushroom, but because it had cheese in it.

If you look at the picture, shouldn't be able to make out what the hell is that. Basically, the portobello is coated with some kind bread crumps and deep fried, and somewhere in between infused with parmesan cheese. And the sirloin strips came on top.

The lamb shank which friends ordered is better, is cooked between tender and "melt into your mouth". The passion sorbet ice cream was very refreshing, though abit sweet.

Customer "No seats now eh"
Staff "Nope"
Customer "Is there a waiting list ?"
Staff "Yes"
Customer *Attempting to ask how many people in the list*
Staff "The list is very very long*

Another "Shoo Shoo go away, eat somewhere else" service. Hee, is okay because did not happen to us :)

Wed@Loof

Was there around 8 pm, manage to get a good seats. They have sofa seats with resting backs now, good for lazing around. Just in time for their happy hour, 30% off all drinks except bottled alcohols and food.

And they got his new menu cum cover for you to shelter to the covered area if it rains, wasn't there when I was last there.

Ordered their French Fries which the menu claim that "Better than your fast food fries". Is those crinkle fries, looks normal but somehow you couldn't stop eating, comes with mayo.

Not much of any "looker" crowd that night, but considered weekdays, almost full house. Wonder how long it can last :) Quite a nice place to chill out, not too loud, so still can talk, usually quite cooling, accesible from public transport.

And there is this photographer buzzing around taking pictures for people and which he will post them on nightlife.sg. Not sure who owns the website, what is the objective ? Any business acumen behind ? Anyway, we obliged.

Left around at 10 pm.

Carrefour

Service ? Good ? Bad ? Non-existence ? This has been a issue ever since. How does staff which represents a certain product, brand or company delivers what a customer wants ? To what extent will they go to help a customer regardless if he/she is a singaporean or foreigner ?

At carrefour,

Fren 1 : Where can I find car wax ?
Staff : *Standing in front of the remote car section* We don't sell
Fren 1 *Quite shocked that a hypermart don't carry car wax*
Anyway, we found it along one of the lorong. Quite a collection but do not have the colour which my friend wants. So he decided to give it another go, to incurred wrath from another staff.

I told him what reply he would get, "4 words", so we pre-enact for another friend.
Fren 1 : For this car wax, do you have silver colour ?
Me : It's all there oledi

Anyway, he tried with another staff squatting down checking some stocks
Fren 1 : For this car wax, do you have silver colour ?
Staff : It's all on the shelf
*5 words !!* One more word ! Tan Tio !

But another incident later more hiong. Another friend want to get shower curtain, but somehow we could not find with the labelling on top. So here we go again,

Fren 2 : Do you have shower curtains ?
Staff : Yes, *Pointing to a direction* Is there, you see the ironing board ? there you can find some. And if you go down, say 10 to 15 shelves, you can find some there too.

Hmmmmm, finally some answers we wanted to hear. But then after parading up and down, we still cannot find !!! But now we found a lorong having a label "Bathroom Accessories", but still cannot find it there.

So here we go again,
Fren 2 : Do you have shower curtains ?
Staff : Ermmmm, I check for you
Another staff : Oh, we do not carry that anymore

Actually, these are normal to us, maybe Singaporeans in general have already accustomed to such services. What are some general issues ?

Wrong Tone ?
Standard replies ?
Poor product knowledge ?
Halaster ?

Nonetheless, we do received very good services, some which just surprises us and gives the extra bit of "magic" even in the end your objective was not met.

"Go-the-Extra-Mile for Service (GEMS) is a national movement launched on 6 October 2005 that seeks to encourage everyone – from businessmen to service workers to customers – to play their part and take the initiative to improve service levels"

$15 steamboat

Quite cheap consider $15 nett per pax with free flow drink, just opposite Mr Bean at Selegie. Fish based soup but the ingredients are normal, so are the sauces. The so called Malacca satay and sauce below average.

Nothing fantastic.

The Host vs Singapore Dreaming

Both are family centric movies of different languages and culture, and also revolving around a different theme. A mutated gigantic fish in Han river in The Host is the thing that rumble up the Park family, while money, favouritism, friction, love tested the Loh family in Singapore Dreaming.

This movie was a major hit in Korea this year, grossing more than 100% than the 2nd movie in the box office. What makes a typical monster movie so popular ? Monster movie which Hollywood makes tonnes in a year whether is A grade to Z grade. A major difference is the monster in The Host is reveal to the audience very early in the movie, which is unusual in monster type movie where alot of "people will died first" + "alot of people will not believe there is a monster first" + then they will finally realize, "Oh really got monster ah".

The monster appeared early so as to eat up Hyeon-su but apparently only capture her. With this, pandemonium occurred, people near Han River evacuated, a mysterious virus was declared which came from the monster, USA and WHO got involved.

Several scenes was quite deliberately made to shown how KT, incapable and merciless the korean government was. The pace of the movie fasten when the Park family received a call from Hyeon-su, believing she is still alive and so determined to get her out from the monster's den, a sewage. The last scene where the final show down between the Park family and The Host was quite something. It was torched alive and speared to death.

Moment of the movie :
The dimwit narcolepsy son which indirectly caused his Dad's death by miscounting the number of bullets left and telling him there is still a last bullet. Therefore, The Host flung him to death.
The Host gets 7/10 .

Singapore Dreaming, a very local movie largely dialogued in Hokkien revolving around the Loh family. Not the kind of Jack Neo's slap stick + morale of the story kinda of movie. It still have numerous light hearted and funny scenes but a typical and predictable storyline did nothing to the tempo of the movie.

1) Parent dotes and favour the son
2) Incompetent and son
3) Son's gf who devotes her time, money and life to him which he don't appreciate
4) Daugther has a job with a crap boss, with an ex-SAF regular husband lousy at selling insurance
5) Dad died after striking 2 million TOTO
6) Fighting over the money
7) A fair ending I would say

Moment of the movie :
Dad bought Mum a pair of earrings after striking 2 million dollars, ironically he didn't know her ears was not pierced all these years. SG Dreaming gets a 6/10

"I Swallow" Ad

The recent Imedeen "I swallow" Ad cause some stir in it's provocative slogan used. But if it is in chinese, then may not be as rousing as it sounds, "我的美的秘诀 ? 我吞.".
Actually, sounds awkward in chinese.

The arguement that whether ZT knew of any innuendos from the slogan or not, she obviously will say no. Since it is a tablet, swallowing is the norm.

Could be an extra pubilicity shot by Imedeen to attract more attentions to the product line.

A very intriguing slogan, simple and yet complex.

"Mai Hum"

I did not hear the exact "Mai Hum" speech, but the below excerpt and picture from talkingcock.com, I find it very funny.

"The reason for his’s notorious and embarrassing gaffe during his speech has been revealed."

Hahahahahahahahahaha.

Singapore vs China

I though it was the World Cup Final held at the national stadium, grand stand tickets sold out at 6:50 pm ! All the chinaman, 小龙女, 陪读妈妈 buying the tickets !!!! Overwhelming response, should have come earlier. Sigh, no choice, have to walk back to east gate to get gallery tickets, hordes of people !!!!! Queue at least 20 mins to get our tickets :(

No VIP tickets this round :(

Teams strolled out, somehow Singapore not in red, and the Singapore flag somehow so small compare to the China flag, Nathan was there somemore ! National Anthem time.

Overall, a very poor match. Few clear cut chances, both teams are more interested to get players send off, play-acting after getting knocks, goes to ground like getting a WWE strike.
But eventually, Shao Jia Yi did get himself a red card, didn catch the action but a Singapore player went down.

China got slight more possession and technically better, passing the ball better but just could not break down Singapore's defence. Ironically, Singapore had a goal disallowed for Khairul's strike, either for handball or a foul on the defender.

China had a few openings, but Lionel was there to salvage the situation. But he was out of position when he came out a few times to get the ball, of course misses the ball.

And somehow, from the 35th to halftime, there are gazillions of people still trickling in, can't imagine why ? Blocking our view, shouldn't have sat at the first row along the lorong.

This second half freekick sums up Singapore's day, deadball attack lacks creativity and punch. Depending on counter-attack to create some chance, and it was Singapore who has another good chance in the second half, Dickson's run to the byline sends a low cross into the penalty box which the strikers did not put in any effort to attack it.

0-0 seems a fair result though China has a few chances to win the game in the second half.

Singapore still have a chance to get into the Asian Cup, with crucial games against Palestine and Iraq coming up.

Replugged - Lesson 2

With not much practice and disobedient fingers, did not go well when we were running through the previous excercises. The brain, The RH, The LH, The fingers all going haywire. Lesson 2, we learnt chords, the basically, anything more than 2 notes played together is a chord. And fingering again, streesed, is important, abit difficult getting 1 3 5 fingers to play the C A F G chords in a smooth motion, the 4th finger not able to lift up high enough so as not to obstruct 1 3 5 !!!

Given the 天黑黑 chords, suppose to practice everything again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again.

No lessons till Oct when forbidden city ends its run.

Art of the Devil 2

Not many watchable movies left, so art of the devil 2 caught the eye for its "Gore and Disturbing Content" ... hahahahaha ... We were abit late, The Cathay starts its show on the dot ! which is good ! Not like GV where you have to wait for Richard Gere then the show will start.

When we sat down, a guy was in the scene, fishing but then a got cut by a fish hook. Then scene changed suddenly to a old lady house, whom suppose is the cure for black magic *Gong Tau*. Her attempt is somehow futile, as the ah pek who put the Gong Tau wins, he died in a very "Gore and Disturbing Content" way of course !!!!

The story goes like this Ta's step mom, Panor was having an affair with the sports coach in school but was berated by his father when he told the truth. So Por ( in the same gang ) suggest filming their tryst so they will have solid evidence, so they film but got caught by the male teacher who turned violent and sexually destructive, and made some of the students BJ for him !!!!! Ermmm ... of course he has a gun.

This pissed the students off and decided to ask the ah pek to Gong Tau the sports coach and he died of course. 2 years later, students went back to visit Ta and Panor, without knowing she is going to exact revenge, of course with Gong Tau !!!! So each died in quite a hiong way !!!

Thai horror movie usually has twists in the end, this one has a few as well. The horror thai movie, The Shutter is a very good example if anyone could remember. So as the story unfolds, twists came along, truth unveiled and is like there are more than the few Gong Tau we knew, other members of the gang also Gong Tau each other with other intent.

Basically a Gong Tau movie with people dying in a very revolting way. Not a bad horror movie, it doesn't spook you here and there but let you enjoy the gory scenes !

7/10

Moment of the movie :
Definitely will be the last scene of the movie where it reveals 2 more twists ! Ta actually died years back !!!! But he somehow lead the students back so as to help him reveal Panor's insane doings, maybe insane is too light a word.

And Kim also Gong Tau Ta to make him like her in the very beginning and as the ah pek the Gong Tau will stay with him till you died !!!!

So she killed herself ( Doesn't matter how she died as the other death is already too hiong )

Nokia "Don't" Care Centre

Went to Nokia "Don't" Care Centre to collect my N70, just around 5 months+, it succumb to boot failure. My number was C92 and was serving C82 but somehow gazillions of people is waiting outside, spreading to Haagen Daaz's area. After 15 minutes, it start to use a service counter for collection, this counter was fast, is like a counter setup for "Come on, your phone is working now, so go .... Shooo Shooo, collect and go, and you better pray it won't spoil again"

My turn came,

She took out my N70
Verify my NRIC
Say the battery was okay
I was trying to look at the service report and she say she will give it to me later
Me "So what was changed ?"
NDCC "2 internal components"
Me "Which are ?"
NDCC "Didn answer" *busy getting me to sign off*
Me *Signing off* *Looking at the service report*
Me "So these are the 2 components that was changed"
NDCC "Yes"
Me "Okay, which are ?" *No human readable description on WTF was changed*

陶 Modern Pacific Cuisine

Had dinner at 陶 before the movie, first time going there though heard about it a few times. Actually was attracted by the "live" band outside the al fresco dining area, belting out chinese pop songs, but too bad coz we walked in .... no seats outside.

So basically, I think the menu is fixed as you can only eat the 7 course set dinner, not sure if you can just order ala carte but don't think it will be worth it also. Can't take pictures coz my damn n70 is still recuperating at nokia ... crap crap crap !!! Sigh

Back to the food, appetizer, salad, soup, main course, dessert, beverage. Choosing from each was quite easy, no choice for the appetizer though, it was bacon gratin with toast, you spread the bacon stuff on your toast, toast is unlimited though. And there is this raspberry sorbet shot that starts everything which was suppose to increase our appetite.

I had the italian something salad, nothing special about this one. The fruit salad looks interesting though. Next is the soup, pumpkin soup for me ... and it turns out nice nice. Oven toasted steak was my main dish, it was a thick piece of steak, which part of the moo moo not sure though. Came with a tiny tomato, broccoli and mashed pumpkin with a taro chip. The steak was normal but the spicy stingray is nice !

Somewhere along the way, came the grilled mushroom, usually I don't like mushroom because of its smell but this one taste quite good and with the teriyaki like sauce makes it tasty.

Creme brulee was my dessert, I like it ! And summer peach tea was my drink, came in a little transparent pot and a tiny cup for you to drink from, quite unique.

Was full in the end, every item was sized to a nice portion, $28.80++ for all that ... Hmmmmmm ... not cheap but is like you tasted alot of dishes in one go.

Decent place, not to mention the service was quite good. Some servers even try to crack jokes with us, funny or not ? not really important :)

A place that can come again but next time should be outside listening to the nice songs

The Devil Wears PRADA

A comedy drama quite within my expectations, is a norm fresh grad who make it big in the real world kinda of movie, with light hearted moments, some funny scenes, happy ending ... all from the glitzing glamour of the fashion world in New York.

Based on a hugely successful novel by Lauren Weisberger, Meryl Streep portrayal of Miranda Priestly, the influential, merciless, abusive editor-in-chief of the magazine Runway, which dictates the fashion world, is indeed very impressive. She is the hell boss which everyone is terrified of !!!

She has 2 assistants, Emily the first assistant which takes care of her business related "chores" and the other assistantssssss which did not went well and left. Not a job a norm person can take, you have to be slim, okay real slim, knows how to dress, can take emotional, irrational, unappreciative, destructive antics from Miranda. And along the way, came Anne Hathaway, she is Andrea Sachs, a fresh grad who wants to be a journalist but ended up getting the job 11 out of 10 girls would dreamt of !

Did I say she was stunning when she really dressed up in the movie ? She is not that kind of first look which everyone thinks she is pretty kind, at least to me. Look at the picture, she is damn gorgeous !

Okay, back to the movie ... the story goes on how the intially "hates fashion", "disappointing" Andrea became the "New Emily", As days goes by, Miranda starts to like her, impress with some of her ways to get things done for her, and finally called her Andrea, as initially she calls her Emily, who knows on purpose or not. As she gets more "in" to her job, her relationship with her bf and friends starts to fade, but since is a happy ending, doesn't matter anyway when this happens in the middle of the show.

A nice movie ... gets 7 out of 10 !

Moment of the movie :
Emily was dying to go to Paris with Miranda for the fashion show so she was on a special diet, and was telling Andrea that while they were walking up the stairs to a party

Emily : "I am on a special diet ... basically I don't eat anything" :)
